Uzbekistan Women’s National Cup began in Tashkent where their teenage talents proved amazing performance

Uzbekistan’s women boxing life turned to a new era when their top talent Yodgoroy Mirzaeva qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The Central Asian boxing power has been holding several national events for women boxers each year to develop their skills and competition possibilities. Their Women’s National Cup for the elite female athletes began in Tashkent where their future stars worked well in the preliminaries and quarter-finals.
Namangan’s Fotimakhon Tursunbayeva is the defending National Champion at the light flyweight (48kg) and she proved her best in the first phase of the National Cup stopping Gulasal Sultanaliyeva in the quarter-finals. Another National Champion Gulasal Atakulova was also too strong for Gulshoda Abdukakharova while Natalya Kadirova and Maftuna Muzaffarova also advanced to the last four.
Uzbekistan’s 19-year-old top talent National Champion and Chinggis Khan Cup winner Tursunoy Rakhimova stopped Mokhichekhra Baratova in the quarter-finals and will be boxing with two-time Youth National Champion Dilnozakhon Nematullayeva in the semi-finals. Her main rival could be 18-year-old Azizabonu Mamirova who also proved her best in the first two competition days in Tashkent.
Medallists of the last edition of the Uzbekistan Women’s National Championships such as Tashkent’s Farida Turdiyeva and Dzhizak’s Aziza Yokubova both are favourites at the bantamweight (54kg) who proved top performance in Tashkent in the road to the semi-finals. Turdiyeva eliminated Karakalpakstan’s Nilufar Raimbayeva while Yokubova was too strong for Tashkent’s Shakhlo Nematova.
National Elite Champion Raykhona Kodirova and Karakalpakstan’s National Youth Champion Gulim Urazymbetova are the key boxers at the featherweight (57kg) and both talents advanced to the last four in Tashkent. Tashkent region’s Madina Khayitkulova and Bukhara’s Nigina Soliyeva will be their rivals in the semi-finals in the National Cup.
Uzbekistan’s first ever Olympian in women boxing 20-year-old Yodgoroy Mirzaeva proved her skills in the international level and after the August’s event decided to move up to the lightweight (60kg). The super talented boxer stopped Dilfuza Dzhumanazarova in the last eight while Khilola Sobirova, National Champion Gulnoza Rakhmatova and Asian Games competitor Muhayyohon Esonboyeva are still remained in the National Cup.
Dzhizak’s National Champion Emine Shmykova and another Dzhizak boxer 19-year-old Maftunakhon Melieva are the best boxers of the light welterweight (64kg) in the National Cup. Melieva eliminated National Champion Khatuna Dzhumabayeva in the quarter-finals which bout was one of the best in the second competition day. National Championships bronze medallist boxers Shakhlo Ushurova and Nozimakhon Umarova are still in the competition in this weight category.
Andizhan’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships competitor Nafisakhon Askarova defeated Dilnovaz Narkhodjayeva in the light heavyweight (81kg) which was her key contest in the event. Dzhizak’s ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships silver medallist Guzal Ismatova and Andizhan’s two-time Youth National Champion 18-year-old Gulchiroy Abdukakharova both dominated their first contests.
