Twelve Asian finalists at the Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup

Twelve Asian boxers advanced to the finals of the strong Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan following their victories in the semi-finals today. Among the 26 finalist boxers nearly 50% are Asians and of the Kazakhs, Bekarys Nurmukhan knocked out his local rival in the fourth day of boxing.

Boxers who were born in 2007 and in 2008 are eligible to participate in the 13 official junior categories from the pinweight (46kg) up to the heavyweight (+80kg) in Baku. Among the Central Asian boxing powers, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan all will be there in the Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup. Kazakhstan has six finalists in the competition, their Yerzhan Isteleuov (52kg), Bekarys Nurmukhan (66kg), Zhassulan Berdaly (70kg) and Beksultan Kairatuly (+80kg) will have the chance to win their weight classes tomorrow. Tagir Satayev and Igor Solovyev both from Kazakhstan will be decided the gold medal of the light welterweight (63kg).

Uzbekistan has also half dozen of finalists in the Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup and the lightweight (60kg) gold medal will be won one of their boxers surely. Two talented Uzbeks such as Sardorbek Saidakbarov and Firuzjon Sadullayev advanced to the finals in this weight class and this bout could be an important selection between them before the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships.

Kyrgyzstan earned finally two bronze medals in Baku, their Alikhan Mairambekov (54kg) and Mukhammed Alimbekov (60kg) lost their semi-final contests today.
