Achilov and Masharipov are the stars in the Turkmenistan National Cup
Turkmenistan’s selection event their National Cup was held in the city of Ashgabat for their elite men boxers. The competition was a preparation event for the main actions and goals of 2016 which is a qualification and an Olympic year.
Turkmenistan’s best boxers such as strong Zarip Jumayev, Yakub Meredov, Hursand Imankuliyev, Incheon 2014 Asian Games bronze medallist Aziz Bebitov and Arslanbek Achilov are preparing to the AIBA Asian & Oceania Olympic Qualifiers with full speed and did not attend in their National Cup.
Turkmenistan’s top Light Flyweight class (49 kg) boxer Dayanch Annaseidov arrived from the Balkan region to Ashgabat and proved his quick combinations are lethal for his compatriots. The 22-year-old two-time National Champion defeated Great Silk Way Tournament silver medallist Osman Hajiyev in the final of the National Cup.
In the absence of their top boxer Zarip Jumayev a new talent secured the gold medal at the Flyweight class (52 kg) in the Turkmenistan National Cup. Bayramkhan Permanov competed in the junior and youth level and now the 18-year-old hope defeated Gurban Karimov in the semi-finals and Farkhad Yusupov in the gold medal bout which is his first title in their National Cups.
Rozumbay Hojaniyazov is a new face in the elite level who demonstrated his power in their National Cup. He defeated Turkmenistan’s former Youth National Champion and National Cup winner Shokhrat Jumayev for the gold while Rustem Suleymanov and Meylis Amangeldiyev claimed only bronze medals in Ashgabat.
Islam Nurmetov defeated former National Champion 21-year-old Timur Halilov and AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships competitor Yazmyrat Gurbanov in the Turkmenistan National Cup which results were surprises in the event. Nurmetov won the gold medal at the Lightweight class (60 kg) and can prepares to more action in 2016.
Sanjarbek Sapayev attended in the 2010 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Baku and decided to move back to the Light Welterweight class (64 kg). The 22-year-old boxer triumphed over National Champion Sunnet Annaseidov and National Championships silver medallist Zufar Saparbayev during his road to the final glory.
Bakhtiyar Masharipov won the Turkmenistan National Cup in 2011 and competed also in the AIBA Asian Olympic Qualifiers in 2012. He returned after a long break in Ashgabat where he defeated 18-year-old rising hope Chagrylbeg Pazzyyev and ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Timur Tajimov while 19-year-old Begench Shiriyev claimed only bronze medal in the strong event.
Ustabek Samandarov was an unknown boxer before the Turkmenistan National Cup but he was able to beat experienced boxers such as Alimbay Saburov and Tolkun Gulmamedov in the Middleweight class (75 kg). ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Azizbek Achilov was in different level than Eyub Hajinurov and claimed another title at the Light Heavyweight class (81 kg).
Farrukh Ismetov achieved great results as a youth boxer and claimed silver medal at the President’s Cup in 2011. He moved up two weight classes in the recent one and half year and the 22-year-old boxer dominated his battle over Bakhrom Yangibayev in the final. The last gold medal of the Turkmenistan National Cup was achieved by Gurbandurdy Gummyshev who eliminated 20-year-old Jelaleddin Atamuradov in the semi-finals and veteran Mahmud Mamedov for the gold who competed international events since 2003.
