Towards the Roads of Buenos Aires the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championship starts in Bangkok on Thursday

ASTANA. KAZINFORM. From April 19 to 28, the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will take place in Bangkok which will qualify for the forthcoming Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires and the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in this age category, as reported by the press service of the Asian Boxing Confederation.
‘In this continental championship we expect a record number of countries. According to the registration, 235 boxers from 35 countries will participate. I would like to pay tribute to teams participating for the first time in this competition with youth athletes from Afghanistan, East Timor, Cambodia, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, and North Korea. I would also like to commend the East Timor team, which is the debutant country of any Asian Boxing Championship. We are glad that Asian boxing series are replenished, we witness this progressive growth from competition to competition”, said Mr. Serik Konakbayev, Vice President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), President of the Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC).
Youth men and women will be competing in 10 weight categories in Bangkok. Full men’s and woman’s teams were announced by Kazakhstan and India. The men’s team of Uzbekistan also participates with big delegation. The host country of the championship presents a team of 7 boys and 6 girls.
Athletes of the current championship are potential participants from the continent not only in the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, but also in Tokyo in 2020. The other day it was announced that the motto of the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina is ‘Feel the Future’, together with the relevant Committee of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships, at the start of preparation for this important continental event, we defined the slogan ‘Future Starts Here’. It means that that boxers of this age category are our golden reserves, our the future of the Asian boxing”,

The competition will start on April 21, semi-finals and final fights will be on April 26 and 27 respectively.
