Top guns earned gold medals at the Chinese Women’s Elite National Championships

The Chinese Women’s Elite National Championships was held in the city of Xian, Shaanxi Province and eleven champions earned their gold medals.

The Chinese women boxers impressed in all levels of boxing and their team is one of the strongest line-ups in the entire world.

The level of the Chinese Women’s National Boxing Championships was like a World Championships, several of the international medallists were not able to take titles in Xian.  The total number of participating female elite boxers was 201 in the Women’s National Championships.

The Chinese National Games will be held this November and the Women’s National Championships was the first selection event on that road.

Chongqing’s Wang Qiuping claimed the first gold medal in the National Championships, she defeated Guangxi’s Chen Yingtao in a tight final which had the 3:2 split decision.

China’s No.1, the light flyweight (50kg) star, the Beijing Sports University’s Wu Yu dominated all of her contests in the National Championships including her final against Qi Xinyu of Xian Sports University.

Following Liang Xiyun’s gold medal at the flyweight (52kg), another Chinese hero, Chang Yuan bagged the title at the bantamweight (54kg). The 28-year-old boxer has eleven years of international experience and these paid off against Cao Wanqi of Hunan in the final.

Jiangsu’s Xu Zichun was member of the elite national team at the featherweight (57kg) in the recent two years and she remained on the top of the national podium after beating Zhejiang’s Ge Yaqi in the final.

The World Champion, Guizhou’s Yang Chengyu moved back to the lightweight (60kg) but she had the skills to beat all of her opponent including Yi Rigui of Hubei before Wang Qian bagged the gold medal at the light welterweight (63kg).

Inner Mongolia’s Yang Liu is another World Champion in the national team and the 33-year-old boxer used her brilliant counter-attacks to beat Zhao Chunyuan of Shanxi at the welterweight (66kg) final.

The multiple champion in all levels of boxing, Inner Mongolia’s Li Qian is a 35-year-old veteran boxer but she was still hungry to take the title at the busy middleweight (75kg). Zhan Yilian claimed a gold medal in the 2025 Women’s World Boxing Championships and he had the strong performance to win the national title.
