Tokyo Olympian Sudaporn Seesondee will be meeting with promising Porntip Buapa in the final of the Thailand Elite National Championships

The impressive semi-finals were held in the sixth competition day at the Thailand National Elite Boxing Championships in the Muak Lek District. Thailand’s young boxers who achieved fantastic youth results in the recent years, all advanced to the finals of the National Championships. AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Sudaporn Seesondee will be meeting with 19-year-old promising Porntip Buapa in a dream final in Muak Lek.

Thailand returned to the trainings and to their national sport center short after the quarantine period and their top boxers are in top shape in the national event. Altogether 213 female and male bouts have been scheduled in the 2020 edition of the Thailand Elite National Boxing Championships in Muak Lek.

There are more than 16 boxers in almost all of the weight categories in the national event where some of the divisions are crowded with more than 25 participating athletes. Boxers who were born between 1980 and 2001 are eligible to attend in the Thailand Elite National Boxing Championships.

The women boxers can compete in five weight categories in the national event: at the light flyweight (48kg), at the flyweight (51kg), at the featherweight (57kg), at the lightweight (60kg) and at the welterweight (69kg). The male boxers are competing for the medals in six different weight classes in Muak Lek: light flyweight (49kg), flyweight (52kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (63kg), welterweight (69kg) and middleweight (75kg).

Following the semi-finals of the women’s light flyweight (48kg), the expected final has been realized between ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships competitor Panpradup Plodsai and Ratchaneekorn Sikadon. The two stars of the women’s flyweight (51kg) also advanced to the final of the National Championships therefore two-time AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Chuthamat Raksat and Jutamas Jitpong can meet for the title in Muak Lek.

Former National Champion 24-year-old Thantip Wannaphrom stopped Preedakamon Tintabthai in the semi-finals of the women’s featherweight (57kg) and can meet for the gold medal with ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships silver medallist Nilawan Techasuep who controlled her contest against Apisada Tantawa.  

AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Sudaporn Seesondee walked over to the final of the lightweight (60kg) where she will me meeting with two-time ASBC Asian Youth Champion 19-year-old Porntip Buapa. Tokyo Olympian teenage star Baison Manikon stopped Thanchanok Saksri in the semi-finals and will be facing for the gold of the women’s welterweight (69kg) with Chanthida Sukakern who surprisingly eliminated Anusara Dusanthia.

AIBA Youth World Champion and Tokyo Olympian Thitisan Panmod eliminated his main rival Cologne Boxing World Cup winner Wuttichai Yurachai already in the quarter-finals and he was also too smart for Wanchalerm Saehan. The 20-year-old star will be meeting for the gold medal with a teenage talent, Pathipan Uthaida. ASBC Asian Youth Champion Sarawut Sukthet eliminated SEA Games silver medallist Ammarit Yaodam in the semi-finals of the featherweight (57kg) and will be boxing for the gold medal with Asian Games bronze medallist Rujakran Juntrong.

Thai national team member Somchay Wongsuwan and experienced Bunjong Sinsiri advanced to the finals of the lightweight (63kg) in Muak Lek. Youth Olympic Games winner Atichai Phoemsap and Anueng Kathmarasri advanced to the final of the welterweight (69kg). ASBC Asian Youth Champion Weerapon Jongjoho stopped Yuttapong Sikadon in the first round of the semi-final of the middleweight (75kg) and can prepare to the final against veteran Aphisit Kanankhokkhruea.
