The World silver medallist Serik Temirzhanov won his third contest at the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships

Pavlodar region’s World silver medallist Serik Temirzhanov looked confident at the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships in the city of Karagandy on Day4 and he won his third-in-a-row contest with confidence.
Karagandy hosts usually the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament in the month of December but the regional federation supported to arrange the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships as one of the last events of the year.
The Kazakh elite boxers impressed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships earning several titles in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Their boxers also achieved medals in the recent Paris Olympic Games earlier this summer.
The women’s flyweight (52kg) is a strong category in Karagandy, new youngsters in the U22 and elite teams such as Anita Adisheva, Anzha Sadvakasova, Tomiris Myrzakul and Zhansaya Rakhymberdi joined the semi-finals.
The former Olympian and Asian Champion Zhaina Shekerbekova is back on track and she eliminated Ayshagul Yeleubayeva in the quarter-finals of the women’s bantamweight (54kg). Another veteran World Champion, Dina Zholaman lost to Aydana Zabynbekova at the featherweight (57kg) but the Paris Olympian Karina Ibragimova looked confident in her quarter-final bout.
Daniyal Sabit robbed into the world of boxing at the age of 19 when he claimed a silver medal at the 2021 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Dubai. He moved up to the flyweight (51kg) and he not only started well against Almas Khinikin but he stopped his opponent in the second round.
Pavlodar region’s Serik Temirzhanov, the World silver medallist, moved back to the lightweight (60kg) and he bowed out from his way the third boxer in the National Championships. He used the best tactics against a former WSB competitor and Asian Championships quarter-finalist, Adilet Kurmetov to beat his 30-year-old rival in the busy lightweight (60kg).
Karagandy region’s Talgat Syrymbetov is another ace at the lightweight (60kg) in the National Championships and the 23-year-old boxer performed well enough to eliminate Alimzhan Beskempir from the Dzhambul region. The tall Yevgeniy Pavlov and Chingiz Mussinov of Akmola region both managed their ways to the semi-finals.
Turkestan region’s 19-year-old Bakhtiyar Anarbayev has five years of international routine which paid off against his Round of 16 opponent, Yerlan Adilzhan in Karagandy. Anarbayev can expect a hard battle in the last eight against Kazakhstan’s top talent, the Youth World Champion Torekhan Sabyrkhan.
Dzhambul region’s Youth World silver medallist Yelnur Suyunbay was impressive once again, he eliminated Sayat Toktasyn in the second round of the preliminary. The National Champion Sanatali Toltayev, Nurzhan Amankeldi and Ilya Kalinin also advanced to the quarter-finals at the welterweight (67kg).
A new champion will be crowned at the men’s heavyweight (92kg), and four boxers remained in actions in Karagandy. Daniyar Rakhimberdinov stopped his opponent in the first round while three further youngsters as Nursultan Yerniyaz, Nurmagomed Yusupov and Madi Ashirov also won their quarter-finals.
Turkestan region’s Nurlan Saparbay achieved several medals in the previous editions of the National Championships and he is on the way to earn his first title in Karagandy. Amanat Sabyrgali had a tight victory over Ayboldy Daurenuly but Nurassyl Assylkhan and Daniyal Saparbay also advanced to the semi-finals of the super heavyweight (+92kg).
