The women boxers began their road at the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships on Day2

The women boxers also began their campaigns at the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships in the city of Karagandy on Day2.

Karagandy hosts usually the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament in the month of December but the regional federation supported to arrange the Kazakhstan Elite National Championships as one of the last events of the year.

The Kazakh elite boxers impressed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships earning several titles in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Their boxers also achieved medals in the recent Paris Olympic Games earlier this summer.

The women boxers started their campaigns in the second competition day and the minimumweight (48kg) delivered quality contests of boxing. Roksana Gasymova eliminated Yerkemay Sartayeva while the former youth national team member Anel Kudaybergen was too smart for Sabina Sarsenkhozhayeva. 

Shakhnaz Issayeva and Dametken Kelimbet both competed for Kazakhstan in major events and the first was the winner of their women’s featherweight (57kg) meeting. Nazym Ishchanova and the returning former World Champion Dina Zholaman also secured their spots in the next stage of boxing.

Akmola region’s Temirtas Zhussupov is a World Champion and an Asian Champion at the minimumweight (48kg) and he is one of the most experienced Kazakh boxers. The 36-year-old veteran is still fast enough to beat younger rivals and he stopped Almaty’s Ramazan Ruzibay in the preliminary round.

Viktor Litvinov achieved his first international medal still back at the 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships in Kuwait City and the 19-year-old boxer from the Akmola region started well at the light heavyweight (80kg). Litvinov outpointed Astana’s Islam Betayev and he has done enough to win their preliminary bout in Karagandy.

The favourites of the light heavyweight (80kg) such as the former Asian Youth Champion Ayatulla Takizhanov, Mikhail Kokhanchik, the Youth World silver medallist Daulet Tulemissov and Azamat Bektas, all advanced to the next stage of boxing.

Zhanibek Kartbayev moved back to the light heavyweight (80kg) but he suffered an unexpected loss to Akzhol Abdikhan in his opening bout. Ikromzhon Saydakhrarov delivered the next surprise in the second day of boxing, he eliminated the National Champion and Strandja Memorial silver medallist Abzal Kuttybekov at the heavyweight (92kg).

Olzhas Bukayev is a veteran at the super heavyweight (+92kg) but he had the speed and strength to beat Meirbek Mukhtarov in his opener. Another well-experienced boxer in the heaviest weight class, Ayboldy Daurenuly made the Mangystau region proud after beating Ramzan Saitov unanimously.
