The two-time Olympian Abylaikhan Zhussupov made a successful comeback at the opener of the Abdaliyev Memorial Tournament

Kazakhstan’s two-time Olympian Abylaikhan Zhussupov returned to the international stage with a preliminary success at the 43rd edition of the Karakozy Abdaliyev Memorial Tournament in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

The international competition is one of the preparation events for the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships. The region’s biggest city in South Kazakhstan was the host of the 2013 edition of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships.

Mr. Karakozy Abdaliyev was a Kazakh-Soviet soldier who was awarded to the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union in 1943 due to his brave actions in World War II. He was born in Shymkent and the city is proud of his hero therefore the Shymkent Boxing Federation was named its international competition after him.

Kazakhstan’s World Champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay is one of their top stars despite he is only 21 therefore the expectations are high with him. The minimumweight (48kg) boxer eliminated Shymkent’s Tileuberdi Suleimeni as first winning all of the three rounds in each of the scorecard with his speed advantage.

Kazakhstan’s next ace in the Shokhr Boltekuly Memorial Tournament, is another World Champion, and the two-time Olympian Saken Bibossynov. The 27-year-old boxer moved up to the bantamweight (54kg) in the previous weeks and he made a successful debut in his new category against Yerassyl Dauletbay.

The bantamweight (54kg) boxer had a strong Turkish opponent, Semih Gumus, but he managed his pathway to the next stage of boxing.

Kazakhstan’s Orazbek Assylkulov claimed several silver medals during his career but the 26-year-old featherweight (57kg) boxer is still chasing his dreams in a top event. The Kazakh not only demonstrated his skills against Uzbekistan’s Abdurakhim Usupov in the first competition day but he stopped his rival in the second round.

The featherweight (57kg) is one of the top highlights in the Shokhr Boltekuly Memorial Tournament in Shymkent. Two further stars, the Bocskai Memorial Tournament winner Assylzhan Serikbay and the World Champion Makhmud Sabyrkhan both amazed in the first day of boxing.

Ukraine’s duo such as Oleg Chulyacheyev (57kg) and the Paris Olympian Aider Abduraimov (60kg) made outstanding debuts in the Shokhr Boltekuly Memorial Tournament while Uzbekistan’s young Abduvali Buriboyev was also among the winners of the opening session in the city of Shymkent. One of the 19-year-old talents in Kazakhstan, Bakhtiyar Anarbayev eliminated Abylai Sman as first at the welterweight (67kg) on Day1.
