There is not any holiday for the Asian male boxers in the important year of 2013 and they met each other in the next international competition in the Issatay Taimanov and Makhambet Utemisov Memorial Tournament in the city of Atyrau, Kazakhstan. The first three competition days have already done in the tournament where 108 elite boxers entered from 10 nations.

Syria’s light flyweight No.1 Housen Al-Masri have had enough experiences in the international level to beat Kazakhstan’s Youth National Championships quarter-finalist Abdusamat Kuantay and will now meet the host nation’s another hope Rashid Salauatov who eliminated Kyrgyzstan’s Youth National Champion 18-year-old Artem Maznev in the quarter- finals of the tournament.

Kyrgyzstan’s Youth National Champion 19-year-old Roman Sadirzhan Ulu defeated Syria’s newcomer in the national squad Omar Zedan by 15:10 and advanced to the last four in Atyrau. The Syrian flyweight boxer replaced Houzeifa Warda just before the competition while Sadirzhan Ulu will be fighting for the final against Kazakhstan’s teenager Adilet Kurmetov who competed in the AIBA Youth World Championships in Yerevan last December. Tajikistan’s AIBA Asian Olympic Qualifiers competitor 21-year-old Safoviddin Yusufi also advanced to the semi-final of the flyweight division.

Russia’s bantamweight competitor in the tournament Egor Egorov eliminated a strong Asian boxer, Tajikistan’s National Champion 21-year-old Oraz Afzalshoyev in a close battle on Day1 and following that he continued the winning path and advanced to the semi-finals after beating Ukraine’s Ivan Ilnitskiy by 12:9 in the quarter-finals.

Azerbaijan’s AIBA Youth World Championships quarter-finalist Kamran Bakhshaliyev shocked Syria’s Asian Games bronze medallist and London 2012 Olympian Wessam Salamana in the lightweight class where the 20-year-old Azeri boxer advanced to the semi- finals winning the bout by 8:4. His next rival for the final will be Uzbekistan’s Sydney Jackson Memorial Tournament silver medallist Dostonbek Abdurakhmonov who was too strong for Tajikistan’s Muslim Bakhtuldzhamolov.

Kazakhstan’s Maulen Oskenbek competed in the last National Championships where he was defeated by eventual winner Merey Akshalov. The young light welterweight boxer proved his skills and defeated his compatriot Nursultan Salikhov who competed in the 2010 Asian Youth Championships in Tehran.
Kazakhstan’s Manat Omirzakov was gold medallist at the 2010 National Men’s Elite Championships therefore his victory over Tajikistan’s Asian Youth Championships quarter- finalist Bakhtiyer Mirzamukhammad was not a surprise on Day1. Following his victory he was shocked by Kazakhstan’s Almazbek Uryngaliyev who stopped him in the next quarter- final stage.

Kazakhstan’s Konakbayev Tournament bronze medallist Kamran Shakhsuvarly will be secured at least a bronze in Atyrau where he advanced to the last four after beating Aydos Dzhingilbayev by 11:8 at the middleweight class. His next opponent will be Kazakhstan’s Baurzhan Karimov who had a quick contest against Uzbekistan’s Shokhr Boltekuly Tournament bronze medallist Bekzod Yuldashev in the battle where the Uzbek ringside abandoned their contest still in the opening round.

Syria’s Alaaldin Ghossoun who is younger brother of Asian Champion Mohammad Ghossoun eliminated Kyrgyzstan’s newly crowned light heavyweight National Champion Aleksandr Panarin by 22:15. The 20-year-old Syrian boxer will now meet Russia’s Artem Tungusov who beat Kazakhstan’s Shynbolat Ryskeldiyev while the top favourite of the division former Kazakh National Champion Dauren Yeleussinov also secured his place in the Top4.
