The Road to Al Ain – The review of the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships

The Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships was held in a new location in Ushqonyr, formerly known as Shamalgan which was the host for the first time. The competition was part of the Road to Al Ain program and the winners have strong chance to show their skills in the international stage of boxing.
The 2010 and 2011 born boxers were eligible to compete in the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships where the 33kg was an additional weight class. Fifteen young 13 and 14-year-old boxers won the gold medals in the event in Ushqonyr, Shamalgan.
The first winner of the Schoolboys National Championships was Almaty’s Abylai Dosymbekov who had a 3:2 split decision success over his teammate from the same city, Adil Salavat at the 33kg weight class.
Bagdaulet Kanybek from the city of Shymkent lost his first preliminary contest in the 2023 Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships but he returned to the event with more experience and he made a strong performance. The 14-year-old boxer had a tough semi-final against Nurislam Sailau but he was confident in the final against Ilias Ibragim of Almaty.
The defending champion, the main favourite Zhumagali Nurmakhan of Turkestan region was not able to compete at the 40kg weight class in Ushqonyr where a new champion has been crowned, Bekkhan Urazbay of Atyrau region following his tight victory over Sukhrap Siperov of Almaty.
Almaty’s Emir Mukhit won one of the most difficult category, the 46kg where 25 boxers competed for the titles. Astana’s Adiyat Marzhikpayev came from a strong boxing family and he dominated all of his contests at the 49kg weight class.
Dzhambul region’s Aliimran Aliyev won two contests by RSC including his final against Bekzat Amantay at the 61kg weight class. His compatriot from the same region, Nurasyl Orazaly also proved his extraordinary strength, he stopped all of his rivals at the 67kg.
Turkestan region’s Zhadiger Musirali had a close loss to Arsen Zholdygul in the 2023 edition of the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships but he switched that silver into a gold in the new competition. The 14-year-old boxer won all of his three contests in Ushqonyr by unanimous decisions including his +70kg final against Ramazan Kaznabay.
The Kazakh schoolboys have been preparing hard for the upcoming ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships which will be held in Al Ain from August 27.
