The President Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup will be held on May 12-19

The President Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup will be held for the 15 and 16-year-old talents in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 12-19.

The competition was named by Mr. Heydar Aliyev who served the country as the third President of Azerbaijan from 1993 until 2003. The boxers who were born in 2008 and in 2009, are eligible to participate in the Heydar Aliyev Junior Tournament.

Baku hosted the Great Silk Way Tournament for the elite boxers on March and their next international event is the President Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup.

The junior male boxers can participate in 13 divisions there from the pinweight (46kg) up to the heavyweight (+80kg) in Baku.

The Azerbaijan Boxing Federation will be responsible for the expenses of accommodation, local transportation and meals for 5 boxers, 2 coaches and 1 Referee & Judges.

The deadline for the registrations for the upcoming Heydar Aliyev Junior Tournament is May 1. The event returned to Baku following some of the previous editions were featured in Nakhichevan, Khirdalan and Sumgayit.

Altogether 101 male boxers competed in the last 2023 edition of the Heydar Aliyev Junior Tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan from tough boxing nations. The number of the local boxers was 38 but strong teams arrived from Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
