The planned 1st Khorramabad Box Cup cancelled and postponed to a later date

The President of the Iranian Boxing Federation Mr. Hossein Souri confirmed their international money prize event, the 1st Khorramabad Box Cup is cancelled due to the spread of the new type of the Coronavirus and the low number of vaccinated people. The Iranian Boxing Federation hopes that the event will be held in the first possible date in 2022 before the Asian Games.

The Iranian Boxing Federation planned to host the 1st Khorramabad Box Cup in the end of the September on order to prepare well to the AIBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships. Following that, their President selected a new date for the men’s elite international tournament which should have been August 27-September 3.

The following 13 male weight categories were on the planned and official schedule of the 1st Khorramabad Box Cup: 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63.5kg, 67kg, 71kg, 75kg, 80kg, 86kg, 92kg and +92kg which should have been also the introduction of the new weight divisions.

The President of the Iranian Boxing Federation Mr. Hossein Souri supported the success of their national team at the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Dubai where their boxers reached two silver and two bronze medals. Two of their boxers qualified also for the Tokyo Olympic Games where Daniyal Shakhbakhsh and Seyed Shahin Mousavi have been eliminated in the preliminary stage.
