The next edition of the Taimanov & Utemisov Memorial Tournament will be held in April 26-30
The Issatai Taimanov & Makhambet Utemisov Memorial Tournament for the elite men boxers will be held in Atyrau, Kazakhstan in April 26-30. The Atyrau Boxing Federation is waiting for Asia’s and Europe’s top boxers for the international competition which was launched with its first edition in 2009.
Issatai Taimanov and Makhambet Utemisov were Kazakhstan’s heroes who lived in the 18th and 19th centuries and not only served their country as warriors but poets as well. The competition will be held held in Atyrau which is located off the coast of the Caspian Sea and the traditional venue of the Issatai Taimanov & Makhambet Utemisov Memorial Tournament.
The last edition of the Issatai Taimanov & Makhambet Utemisov Memorial Tournament was held in Atyrau, Kazakhstan where the host country, Russia, China and Kyrgyzstan claimed the gold medals. The Syrian elite team competed in Atyrau also two years ago and all of their four boxers claimed medals in the Issatai Taimanov and Makhambet Utemisov Memorial Tournament in spite of the political crisis in their country.
The city of Atyrau hosted several international competitions besides to the Issatai Taimanov and Makhambet Utemisov Memorial Tournament to raise the region’s boxing life including with the Askar Kulibayev Prizes Tournament and the Moldagulova & Dospanova & Mametova Women’s Memorial Tournament.
Weight classes of the event:
The prestigious competition will be held in 10 men weight classes: 49kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg and +91kg.
Competition Period
The arrival of the delegations is April 25, the competition period in the Atyrau Sports Complex is April 26-30 while the departure of the teams is May 1.
