The next edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will be taking place in Pattaya in July 1-7

The ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will be held in Pattaya, Thailand where boxers who were born in 1999 and in 2000 are eligible to take part in the competition. The picturesque city of Pattaya is located near to the capital Bangkok in off the coast of the Thai Gulf. Asian Boxing Confederation is expected to take part record number of nations and boxers in the 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships.
The date of the arrival to the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships is June 28-29 while the departure from Thailand is July 8. The competition period of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships is July 1-7 including with a rest day after the quarter-finals on July 5. The bouts will be held in the Sports Authority of Thailand National Stadium of Eastern Region with the capacity of 3,000 seats.
The registration for the 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships is open in the AIBA Database since May 1 and all Asian National Federations must be entered their squad list until May 31. The ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will be held in 10 official weight classes: 49kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg and +91kg.
AIBA changed the name of this age group from junior to youth still back in 2008 therefore the first ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships was held in Tehran in 2010 where Kazakhstan, Iran, India and China were the best nations. Among those winners India’s Vikas Krishan Yadav qualified for the last two editions of the Olympic Games.
Philippines’ port Subic Bay hosted the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in 2013 where Philippines and Kazakhstan both claimed two gold medals. The stars of the 2013 edition were Philippines’ Eumir Felix Marcial, Uzbekistan’s Oybek Sharipov and Kazakhstan’s Tursynbai Kulakhmet.
Bangkok hosted the event in 2014 where Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India and host Thailand claimed the gold medals. The star of the 2014 edition was Uzbekistan’s Bektemir Melikuziev who achieved silver in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. After three years the event will be returning to Thailand but this time Pattaya will be the host city instead of the busy Bangkok.
Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar hosted the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in May 2016. Among the winners in Pavlodar, Uzbekistan’s Sanjar Tursunov qualified for the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships with his great performance in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent. Japan’s rising star Hayato Tsutsumi and Uzbekistan’s Bilolbek Mirzarakhimov won the title in Pavlodar and could be there also in Pattaya to defend their thrones.
Among the Asian developing nations, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Laos, Lebanon, Nepal, Palestine and Syria already informed the Asian Boxing Confederation about their participation in the new edition in Pattaya. Palestine is planning to send record number of 4 boxers to the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships.
