The new women generation started strongly the Indian Open International Boxing Tournament in Guwahati

The 2nd edition of the Indian Open International Boxing Tournament began in the city of Guwahati which competition is the highlight among this week’s events. The new wave of the Indian boxers such as previously high-ranked youth hopes Anamika, Jyoti Gulia and Shashi Chopra all opened their campaigns with strong triumphs on Day1.
The 2nd Indian Open International Boxing Tournament is holding for the women’s elite and men’s elite boxers in Guwahati after the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. The competition will be supported the boxers to prepare well to the upcoming AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships.
The city of Guwahati hosted the 2017 edition of the AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships 13 months ago where India earned record number of five gold medals. Guwahati is the host again in a top international competition and Assam region’s biggest city welcomed Asia’s top boxers this week.

India’s new generation impressed in their first big elite events
India’s Anamika was silver medallist in the 2018 edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships and joined to the elite age group this January. The 19-year-old flyweight (51kg) boxer controlled the opening two rounds against Philippines’ Claudine Decena Veloso and the referee stopped their bout following her powerful attacks. India’s another teenage hope, who was born in 2000 as Anamika, AIBA Youth World Champion Jyoti Gulia had also an impressive start at the flyweight (51kg) against Philippines’ best hope in the category Irish Magno.

Manisha and Shashi Chopra began their campaigns well in Guwahati
National team member Manisha Moun just moved up from the bantamweight (54kg) to the featherweight (57kg) and had to face with Philippines’ AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Nesthy Petecio in a hectic bout. The taller Indian girl was able to keep her best rhythm until the end of the contest and defeated her top rival winning the bout by split decision. AIBA Women’s Youth World Champion Shashi Chopra has done her successful debut at the lightweight (60kg) and eliminated Bhutan’s Tandin Choden who is a newcomer in the international stage.

Thailand’s duo Chanpirom and Butdee dominated their opening fights in Guwahati
Thailand’s Chakapong Chanpirom made his debut at the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok and received the right once again to attend in his next competition. Thailand’s flyweight (52kg) hope controlled his fight well enough and dominated the last round against Bhutan’s Tenzin Drugyel. Thailand’s next boxer in action was their AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Chatchai Decha Butdee who showed strong performance against Nepal’s Surendra Rai in their bantamweight (56kg) bout.
