The new planning date of the next AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships is April 10-24 in 2021

The new planning date of the next edition of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships for the female and male talents is April 10-24 in 2021 following the decision of the AIBA Executive Committee. The first date was November 2-9 in 2020 which moved into a new period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The host of the next edition of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships is a Polish city Kielce which locates in South Central Poland and the capital of the Swietokrzyskie Voivodeship. The mayor of the city is a real sportsman Mr. Bodgan Wenta who played for Poland and Germany in handball between 1981 and 2000 before turning to politician.

There are not any changes in the planning age group in the event, those who should have the right to attend in 2020, all will have the chance to compete in Poland in 2021. Young boxers who were born in 2002 and in 2003 are eligible to attend in the 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.

Kielce is the host of the prestigious Leszek Drogosz Memorial Tournament every year and their staff has the experiences to arrange boxing competitions. The Polish Boxing Federation has got several other international events every year such as the Feliks Stamm Memorial Tournament which is well-known all over the world.

The first edition of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships took place in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2008 following the International Boxing Association changed the name of the age group from junior to youth due to the introduction of the Youth Olympic Games. For this 17-18-year-old age groups the first event called as AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships was held in Yokohama, Japan in 1979. The last edition of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships was held in Budapest on August 2018 where such future stars as Uzbekistan’s Abdumalik Khalakov, Thailand’s Atichai Phoemsap, England’s Caroline Dubois and India’s Sakshi Choudhary won their weight classes in Hungary.
