The Nepal Chief of Army Staff Trophy began in the beautiful city of Pokhara

Nepal’s military event, the Chief of Army Staff Trophy is underway in the beautiful city of Pokhara and four sessions are concluded in the event.

Pokhara is a city on Phewa Lake and it is known as the gateway to the famous Annapurna Circuit which is the trail for the Himalayas.

The Nepal’s Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Talent Hunt Selection has just finished in Lalitpur and also their recent U14-U16-U18 National Novice Selection Tournament was another competition for them this month.

Nepal has promising women’s boxing life, their younger male boxers are also great prodigies and their National Federation hosted several events to give them more experience and exposure in their homeland.

Nepal has strong traditions hosting military competitions and most of their national team members are also serves in the Army, Police or the Air Force.

The Technical Delegate of the Nepal Chief of Army Staff Competition is Mr. Puskar Raj Pant, one of the International Boxing Officials who worked in the recent ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships as well.

Binita Chaudhari had a hard battle at the women’s minimumweight (48kg), she eliminated Mamata Karki but she had to keep the focus on the last gong to win this meeting by 4:1 split decision in Pokhara.

Urmila Thapa Magar, another private in the Army, had a great job against Namisha Tharu in the next women’s minimumweight (48kg) contest and she controlled most of the exchanges with her excellent technical skills.

The women’s bantamweight (54kg) is another strong category in Pokhara and their Krishna Budha stopped her opponent, proving her real chances for the gold medal, but Susmita Jarga Magar also proved her strength in the next bout.

Sandip Bisanke, a gunner, had difficulties in the first round against Cpl. Binod Bahadur Bhat but he switched into a higher rhythm in the second and he turned back their men’s minimumweight (48kg) bout with a stoppage.

Surendra Bahadur Rai (51kg) and the veteran Asian Games competitor Prem Chaudhary (54kg) both stopped their opponents in the busy session. Rajesh Karki won the most difficult male bout in the agenda, he defeated Ashrit Bohora only by 3:2 split decision at the welterweight (67kg).
