The Junior World Boxing Championships starts with 29 contests tomorrow

The Technical Meeting and the Official Draw were held at the venue of the IBA Junior World Boxing Championships in Yerevan, Armenia. Boxers who were born in 2007 and in 2008 are eligible to participate in the Junior World Boxing Championships.

Yerevan was the host of the 2009 Cadet World Boxing Championships, the 2022 edition of the EUBC European Men’s Elite Boxing Championships and the 2023 EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships.

The last edition of the Junior World Boxing Championships was held in St. Petersburg, Russia in September 2015 therefore the event returned to the competition map after eight years of break.

Afghanistan, Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Qatar, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan sent their boxers from the Asian continent.

The Junior World Boxing Championships will start with 29 contests on November 24 and one of the most exciting contests could be held between Kyrgyzstan’s new ASBC Asian Junior Champion Amantur Dzhumayev and Uzbekistan’s Ibrokhim Giyosov at the light bantamweight (52kg).

Uzbekistan’s Pakhlavonjon Ibrokhimov and Kazakhstan’s Bauyrzhan Muratov knew each other very well but their featherweight (57kg) meeting could be also an exciting one in the first day of boxing.

November 28 – Day5 competition

November 29 – Day6 competition with the quarter-finals

November 30 – Day7 competition with the quarter-finals

December 1 – Day8 competition with the semi-finals

December 2 – Rest Day

December 3 – Day9 competition with the finals

December 4 – Day10 competition with the finals December 5 – Departure of the delegations
