The Iranian elite national team will attend in an Armenian competition in the upcoming days

The Iranian national boxing team spent the recent weeks in training camps, all of their age groups prepared to the next year’s events in various locations. The Iranian elite national team will have still a competition this year and their best boxers including ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships silver medallist Meysam Gheshlaghi still have duties.

Armenia will be hosting international matches in a team event in the city of Yerevan in the upcoming days and Iran send a strong team to the competition. Yerevan will be the host of the 2022 EUBC European Elite Boxing Championships and this event is one of the preparation stages for them.

The head coach of the Iranian national team Mr. Alireza Esteki selected 10 boxers to the Armenian team tournament. Their Daniyal Shakhbakhsh earned a historical bronze medal at the Belgrade AIBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships a few weeks ago and he received the right to rest after that amazing success.

Mahdi Parvizi Khosroshahi is a new addition to the national team who will box at the minimumweight (48kg) in Armenia. The 19-year-old talent competed in the Kielce 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships earlier this year but among the elite boxers he is a newcomer. Strandja Memorial Tournament silver medallist Sajad Mohammadpour returned to the national team after a short break and competed also in the AIBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships this October.

Sajad Ebadipour Ortadaragh is a newcomer in the elite national team and will represent Iran at the light welterweight (63.kg). Bagher Faraji moved up to the new welterweight (67kg) but he has got a few years of experiences in the competitions and he is ready to do his very best in Armenia. Iran’s best talent in the 2002 age group is Farhad Moradi Atashgah who represented the country already in the AIBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships.

Tokyo Olympian Seyed Shahin Mousavi received the right to rest in the end of the year therefore Mahdi Sarbazbakh Shayesh will be attending at the middleweight (75kg) in Armenia. ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships silver medallist Meysam Gheshlaghi is also involved to the travelling team as one of their best weapons. Ali Jamaligaleh also competed in the AIBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships in Belgrade and will be Iran’s boxer at the cruiserweight (86kg).

Iran’s heavyweight (92kg) boxer Toufan Sharifi was medallist already in international tournaments and he can show his power once again. Iman Ramezanpour represented Iran at the super heavyweight (+92kg) in the 2017 and 2019 ASBC Asian Boxing Championships but Pouria Amiri replaced him this year. The 26-year-old boxer returned to the national team after a short break and will be attending in the Armenian event.
