The Iranian Boxing Federation holds a training camp for their elite boxers in the picturesque Kish island

The Iranian Boxing Federation launched its next national training camp for their nine elite male boxers which is holding in the picturesque Kish island. Iran’s two Tokyo Olympian qualified boxers such as 20-year-old Daniyal Shakhbakhsh and ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist Seyed Shahin Mousavi both are attending in the new national training camp in the Kish island.

The Iranians won two important Box-offs in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Amman on March 2020 and the country will be surely there in the boxing event of the Tokyo Olympic Games. Their next target is the World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which is planning to be held on June 2021.

The head coach of the national team former Asian Boxing Championships silver medallist and National Champion Mr. Alireza Esteki invited nine boxers to the elite training camp to Kish island. He arranged all of the schedule and training program of the national team which focuses to the physical preparation of the boxers.

The last edition of the Iranian Elite National Boxing Championships was held in the city of Oroumieh where eight winners have been crowned in the end of 2019. The city is located in the West Azerbaijan Province of Iran and planning to host an international event this February but it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 situation around the globe. Most of the winners of that Iranian elite national event have been invited to the training camp.

Daniyal Shakhbakhsh was quarter-finalist in the Budapest 2018 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and the 20-year-old boxer proved strong developments in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Amman. He became Iran’s first boxer who qualified to the Tokyo Olympic Games using his fast footwork and counter-attacking style.

Seyed Shahin Mousavi was bronze medallist at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and reached the quarter-final in the last edition of the AIBA World Boxing Championships one year ago. The 26-year-old Iranian middleweight (75kg) boxer followed the young Shakhbakhsh and qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Both quota holders have got the full focus in the next year’s Olympics to reach strong result for Iran.

Omid Ahmadisafa had a wonderful year in 2018 when he won gold medals in international tournaments in Kazakhstan and in Mongolia. The tall boxer moved up to the flyweight (52kg) and he was near to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games through the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

Mahdi Khosravi, National Champion Bagher Faraji, ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Moslem Maghsoudi Amiri, Meysam Gheslaghi, National Championships silver medallist Pouria Amiri and Ali Jamali Ghaleh are also training in the national camp in Kish island.

The Iranian youth national team also began its preparation to the upcoming international competitions. Their national training camp was held in Sanandaj city in Kurdistan province from October 10. The youth team has been preparing to the next edition of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which is planning to be hosted in Kielce, Poland on April 10-24 next year.
