The Indonesian National Games starts today

The boxing tournament of the Indonesian National Games starts today with 17 preliminary contests in the city of Bandung which is located in Eastern Jawa and will be the country’s main boxing event in 2016.
The National Games will be held for both genders and it is also a selection competition for the further international events in the beginning of the new Tokyo 2020 Olympic era. The Indonesian National Games will be held between from today in the upcoming days to decide the bests of the country.
Asia’s third largest populated country, Indonesia is even more active in the boxing map in comparison to their commitment in the previous years. The local federation hosted big selection tournaments in the Maluku region in Ambon, in Kupang and also in Batam to select the best boxers to the Indonesian National Games.
After the selection events for the Indonesian National Games 175 boxers can take part in the competition in Bandung. Among them 67 will be women boxers while 31 provinces can send athletes to the Games where Jawa Island will have maximum number of 16 competitors. Maluku, Papua, and Sumatera also will have big delegations in the National Games.
Women boxing developed well in Indonesia in the recent years and some of their athletes could be join to the bests in Asia. Indonesia’s best women boxers can compete in six weight classes: 48 kg, 51 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg and 64 kg. The top Indonesian men athletes will be competing in ten weight categories in Bandung: 46 kg, 49 kg, 52 kg, 56 kg, 60 kg, 64 kg, 69 kg, 75 kg, 81 kg and 91 kg.
Indonesia’s best boxers at the Light Flyweight class (49 kg) such as APB hope Kornelis Kwangu Langu, President’s Cup winner Mario Kali and Irfan Tentonda are there in the competition and will be boxing for the gold medal. At the Flyweight class (52 kg) Indonesia’s Southeast Asian Games winner Julio Bria can meet with his big rival Aldoms Suguro in the road to the gold medal.
Experienced men boxers such as Dadan Amanda (56 kg), Rafly Langi (56 kg), ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships competitor Farrand Papendang (60 kg), Erico Amanupunyo (69 kg), Kusdiyono (69 kg), Southeast Asian Games winner Alex Tatontos (75 kg) and David Iskiwar (81 kg) also will be competing for the medals. Among the women boxers Beatrichx Suguro (48 kg), Selly Wanimbo (48 kg), Novita Sinadia (51 kg), Esther Kalayukin (54 kg), Norbertha Tajum (54 kg), Christina Marwan Jembay (57 kg) and Welmy Pariama (64 kg) could be the stars of the Games.
