The Indian juniors impressed in the semi-finals of the 11th Golden Girl Box Cup in Boras

The second competition day was a marathon program at the 11th edition of the Golden Girl Box Cup where high number of nations from four Confederations joined to the event this year as well. The Golden Girl Box Cup is holding in a small city in Boras which is located in the south part of Sweden where the Indians impressed with top performance.

Altogether 297 boxers are attending in the Golden Girl Box Cup which is record in the history of the event and makes it to the biggest female boxing competition in the whole world. The Indian junior and youth boxers are competing for the medals in the event increasing the quality of the tournament. The second competition day saw more than 100 bouts in the city of Boras which is a preparation tournament before the main goals in 2020.

India’s Muskan was born in 2002 and she is now one of the best youth boxers in their female national team. She claimed silver medal in their 2019 Youth National Championships and represented India at the Julius Torma Youth Memorial Tournament last September. The 17-year-old Indian talent eliminated Germany’s Lina Nashwan in the quarter-final stage of the youth bantamweight (54kg) and continued her winning path against Norway’s Benedicte Frugaard Silden in the last four.

The Haryana-based Prachi claimed bronze medal already in the 2018 Indian School National Games and she proved her developed skills in the Golden Girl Box Cup where she defeated Ireland’s Georgia McGovern unanimously at the junior flyweight (50kg). Junior National Championships bronze medallist Ethoibi Chanu Wangjam was too strong for England’s Macey Gardner at the junior bantamweight (54kg) and advanced to the final of the event.

Mizoram’s Rudy Lalhmingmuani was also bronze medallist at the 2019 Indian Junior National Championships who moved up to the welterweight (66kg) and did not give any chance to Denmark’s Freja Andersen in the semi-finals. Mahi Raghav was born only in 2005 but she impressed against Ireland’s Brianna Ryan at the junior light heavyweight (80kg) and advanced to the finals.
