The fruitful ASBC Asian Women’s Commission Meeting was held online with new members

The Asian Boxing Confederation’s Women’s Commission Meeting was held online via Zoom application. The meeting was led by the Chairwoman of the ASBC Women’s Commission Ms. Shelly Selowati H. Soejono of Indonesia.

The top management of the Asian Boxing Confederation hold its first historical Virtual Executive Committee Meeting via Zoom in the end of May and followed that the ASBC Commissions also continued the work online.

Altogether 7 out of the 11 ASBC Women’s Commission members joined to the online meeting while four people of the ASBC Executive Management also followed the discussions. Besides to the Chairwoman, Ms. Rasha Khamis of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Dian Gomes of Sri Lanka, Ms. Azadeh Moghaddas of Iran, Ms. Arifa Bseiso of Jordan, Mrs. Priti Bariya of India and Mrs. You Pei Na of China attended in the virtual meeting.

The Executive Director of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Ali Salameh and ASBC Administrative Director Mr. Bassam Ghanem were observers of the online meeting. ASBC Finance Director Mr. Wael Sadeq Elsamani and ASBC Sports Director Mr. Omar Saleh Aljabri were the hosts of the meeting.

ASBC Executive Director Mr. Ali Salameh opened the Commission Meeting delivering ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba’s regards and messages to the members. The Chairwoman and all of the Commission members introduced themselves to start the common work together to develop Asia’s women’s boxing life.

The 2020 ASBC Boxing Calendar contained five competitions originally but due to the Covid-19 situation only the ASBC Asian Grand Slam Boxing Championships will be held this year. The competition could be the only one major Asian event in the year but members negotiated that the number of female boxers must be increased by 30% in the upcoming events from all regions of the continent.

The ASBC Asian Women’s Commission agreed to conduct a webinar on September 19 which will be the next educational program for female boxing. ASBC President’s Mr. Anas Alotaiba’s great objective the Gender Equality program is also on the focus in terms of all aspects of women’s boxing to move ahead step by step. Chairwoman of the ASBC Women’s Commission Ms. Shelly Selowati H. Soejono nominated Ms. Rasha Khamis of Saudi Arabia as Vice-Chairman.
