The final line-ups confirmed at the Tajikistan National Championships in Khudjand

The world-class level of the semi-finals confirmed the final line-ups of the Tajikistan Elite National Championships in underway in the city of Khudjand.
Khudjand, previously known as Leninabad, is located in North Tajikistan, it is the second largest city of the country. Khudjand is also one of the oldest cities of the Central Asian region which was established more than 2,500 years ago during the Persian Empire.
The best boxers of the country, both men and women, will participate in the new edition of the National Elite Boxing Championships. The Tajiks amazed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo claiming gold medals.
Altogether 19 female and 112 male boxers are participating in the Tajikistan Elite National Championships in Khudjand.
The men’s light welterweight (63.5kg) is the most crowded after the regional selection events with the participation of 12 boxers. The participating teams are Dushanbe-1, Dushanbe-2, GBAO, Khatlon-1, Khatlon-2, Sughd and SHNTM.
Sughd region’s Meroj Sufijonov reached several top results among the junior and youth boxers and he claimed also a medal at the recent ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships in Sri Lanka. The Tajik flyweight (51kg) boxer spent short time in the ring, his strength was decisive against Khusein Dilovarov in the last four therefore he will now meet Dushanbe’s Mekhrob Khamidov for the gold medal.
Khusravkhon Rakhimov, the ASBC Asian U22 silver medallist is in strong promising stage in all aspects of boxing and he had the comfortable triumph over Buzurgmekhr Iksanov in the semi-finals of the featherweight (57kg). Rakhimov will now face with the returning boxer, Sughd region’s Iskandarbek Rustamov to take his next national title.
Dushanbe’s Akmal Ubaydov made a big surprise in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Chiang Mai where he claimed the title of the lightweight (60kg). The experienced Ubaydov had disadvantage on the judges’ scorecards after one round against another Asian medallist, Abubakr Murodzoda but he knocked out his rival in the second and he will be boxing for the gold with Meroj Zoidov.
Tajikistan’s next ASBC Asian Champion in action was Bakhodur Usmonov who controlled all of the three rounds against Mukhammadamin Lutfulloyev to reach the final of the light welterweight (63.5kg) therefore the dream final has accomplished with another Asian medallist boxer, the 19-year-old Ruslan Gafurov.
Dushanbe’s Shamsher Saidov eliminated Shukrat Salomatov in a hectic semi-final and his final opponent at the welterweight (67kg) will be Fayzali Gulomov. The two main favourites of the light middleweight (71kg), such as Dovud Makhkamov and Murodjon Ashuraliyev marched to the final.
Dushanbe’s Nekruz Salimov had a hard job against another national team member, Abdumalik Boltayev but he succeeded in their light heavyweight (80kg) semi-final. Two top boxers, the Asian Elite silver medallist Parviz Karimov and the former Junior World bronze medallist Akhmadjon Saidov joined the final of the cruiserweight (86kg).
Tajikistan’s national hero, the Asian Games winner Davlat Boltayev stopped Parviz Akhmedov Jr. in his new category, at the super heavyweight (+92kg) and he will be boxing for the title with Dushanbe’s tall Mukhammad Abroridinov.
