The best Japanese women boxers train together in the Tottori Prefecture in the next phase of their preparation

The fourth national training camp for the Japanese women boxers began in the Tottori Prefecture to continue the preparation to the Olympic Games. Physical trainings, sparring, mountain climbing, and many other activities have been involved to the eight-days long preparation which was scheduled by their coaches.

AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Tsukimi Namiki and 20-year-old super talented Sena Irie have already qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games through the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which was held in Amman, Jordan on March 2020.

Japan will be the host of the Olympic Games in Tokyo from July 24 in 2021 therefore all of their top boxers are strongly motivated to get a top result in the front of the home crowd. Their female boxers had Japanese National Sports Festival and the Japanese Women’s Elite National Championships in the end of 2019 but since then not any national events have been scheduled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Japanese Boxing Federation arranged several training camps for their boxers to keep their shapes on the top.

Japan’s No.1 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Tsukimi Namiki is their flyweight (51kg) star who is aiming for a medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships bronze medallist Tsubasa Komura is also in the training camp in the Tottori Prefecture.

Rika Iwata from the Ashiya University is the bantamweight (54kg) boxer in the national training camp. Two-time AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist 20-year-old Sena Irie is their best boxer at the featherweight (57kg) who impressed in the Qualifying Event.

Saya Hamamoto is another young hope who is the Japanese Champion at the lightweight (60kg) but she did not qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games yet. Japanese Women’s National Championships bronze medallist Mai Kito is a developing boxer at the welterweight (69kg) Arisa Tsubata and Rinka Kinoshita are also there in the training camp.
