The Best achievements of the National Federations – Bahrain

The Best achievements of the National Federations is the new PR campaign of the Asian Boxing Confederation and the introduction of the Bahrain Boxing Federation and their best results are the next in the series.

Former English National Champion Mr. Tony Davis is the head coach of the Bahrain boxing team and the key of their developments. He left the GB coaching staff on December 2018 and joined as head coach to the Bahrain Boxing Federation to support the developing Gulf country.

Their boxers attended in the 2016 Gulf Countries Tournament in Riyadh and the squad trained in Saudi Arabia in a joint camp. Bahrain re-joined to the Asian boxing map in 2019 and attended at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships. Bahrain sent a woman boxer to Bangkok which was another historical step from the developing country.

Bahrain Boxing Federation’s first big event was the Battle of Bahrain International Tournament which was held in the end of June 2019 and supported their boxers to meet with the region’s best athletes in various age groups.

Bahrain’s sent finally one boxer to the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships but their Sayed Fadhel Abbas Abdulla defeated United Arab Emirates’ Salem Ahmed Al-Husain there to deliver Bahrain’s first ever success in the history of any of the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships.

Denys Latypov who received the quota place from the IOC Boxing Task Force for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Latypov had enough points in the BTF World Ranking to achieve the Olympic spot as the best Asian super heavyweight (+91kg) boxer. Latypov’s quota place is Bahrain’s first ever Olympic spot in boxing which is their next historical step.

Bahrain made another historic step in 2021 when the country bagged a bronze medal at the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Bahrain secured its first ever medal in the history of any ASBC Asian Boxing Championships following their Sayed Fadhel Abbas Abdulla won his quarter-final bout by RSC.

The Bahrain Boxing Federation hosted its first ever National Championships where the women’s elite, men’s youth and men’s elite boxers competed for the titles in 2024. The Kingdom’s first National Boxing Championships was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Bahrain arranged the 2024 edition of the ISF Gymnasiade in Manama and the host country also claimed gold medals for the very first time.
