The Belt & Road Festival returns in China’s Xinjiang region end of August

The 3rd Belt & Road International Youth Boxing Gala will take place in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region between August 15 and 30 in China.
The main objective of the new edition of the international training camp and competition is to support the preparation of the boxers for the Asian Youth Games which will be held in Bahrain and also for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
The Belt & Road International Boxing Festival will include international training camp, competition for elite, U19 and U17 boxers, forum, Referee & Judge and Coaches seminars.
The Chinese Boxing Federation and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Municipal Government are the organizers of the Festival.
The President of the Chinese Boxing Federation, Mr. Chen Liren is waiting for the participation of the elite and young athletes in Urumqi to build up strong international relations and to find the next generations of talents.
Boxing is one of the most popular sports in the Xinjiang region of China, their Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan earned a gold medal in the last edition of the Asian Games and a silver in the 2023 World Boxing Championships in Tashkent.
The venue of the event is the Xinjiang International Boxing Training Centre in Urumqi which has excellent facilities. The training camp will take place in Urumqi but the competitions will be held in Khorgos city and Urumqi.
The official and full name of the competition was the Belt & Road International Youth Boxing Gala and Sports Lottery Cup, Xinjiang, China International Boxing Invitational.
Altogether 30 youth girls, 43 youth boys and 44 elite men boxers participated in Urumqi, representing 12 teams one year ago. China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, Tajikistan, Thailand, and Uzbekistan were the attending nations in the event in 2024. The competition was divided into four days of boxing and Kazakhstan’s Mr. Kairat Zhumankulov worked as Technical Delegate of the event.
An important Referee & Judge Seminar was also part of the program one year ago which arranged the US expert, Mr. Ray Silvas.
