The Asian debutants delighted the second day at the Ulan-Ude 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships

The Asian boxers achieved five strong triumphs in the second competition day of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships which is running in Ulan-Ude, Russia. India’s newcomer Jamuna Boro, China’s new sensation Yang Liu, while two 20-year-old youngsters as Thailand’s Preedakamon Tintabthai and Uzbekistan’s Shakhnoza Yunusova all won their fights in the second day of boxing.
Altogether 76 strong Asian elite female boxers are attending in the Ulan-Ude 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships from 13 nations: China, DPR Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Tajikistan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

India’s Jamuna Boro won her first fight in Ulan-Ude
India’s Jamuna Boro was member of the national team as junior and youth boxer but she needed a few years to win her first Elite National Trials in the South Asian boxing power. The 22-year-old Indian bantamweight (54kg) boxer had to face as first with an Asian opponent, Mongolia’s Erdenedalai Michidmaa who is a strong teenage hope but currently inexperienced in the elite stage. Boro prepared well from the weak points of the talented Mongolian teenager and defeated her Asian rival with strong performance.

China’s Yang Liu eliminated one of the best Europeans at the welterweight (69kg)
China’s Yang Liu claimed the gold medal at the Cologne Boxing World Cup in Germany this April and replaced ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Gu Hong. The Inner Mongolian girl had to meet with Finland’s Elina Gustafsson who claimed gold at the 2018 EUBC European Women’s Boxing Championships. The Chinese girl used her height advantage well and the counter-attacking style paid off in the first round of their battle. Gustafsson attacked more in their contest but Yang Liu’s technical advantage decided the bout in Ulan-Ude.

Thailand’s third winner in Ulan-Ude was Preedakamon Tintabthai
Thailand’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Chuthamat Raksat and her teammate Jutamas Jitpong both won their opening bouts on Day1. The next Thai in action was Preedakamon Tintabthai who earned bronze medal in the Taipei 2015 AIBA Women’s Junior World Boxing Championships and after one and half year of experiences in the elite age group, she received the right to attend in Ulan-Ude. Thailand’s 20-year-old bantamweight (54kg) boxer looked quicker than Morocco’s Oumayma El Ouali El Alami in the first round. Tintabthai was more confident from the second round and delivered Thailand’s third success in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.

Uzbekistan’s third-in-a-row winner is Shakhnoza Yunusova in Ulan-Ude
Uzbekistan’s Gulasal Sultonalieva and Tursunoy Rakhimova both won their debuting contests against tough Kazakh and Moroccan boxers in the opening day of the Ulan-Ude 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. The next young Uzbek girl Shakhnoza Yunusova was bronze medallist in the 2019 ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships this April who faced with Tajikistan’s 19-year-old Idimokh Kholova on Day2. The Tajik girl, who claimed silver at the 2018 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships, tried to use her height advantage but Yunusova’s pressurizing tactic was better today.

Kazakhstan’s Dariga Shakimova opened with a top performance
Kazakhstan’s Dariga Shakimova was bronze medallist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and she has already more than 10 years of experiences in the national team. Following the decision that the welterweight (69kg) is a new Olympic division, she moved down which is more fit for her height and physical skills. The 31-year-old Kazakh controlled her opening fight against Czech Republic’s lone boxer in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, Martina Schmoranzova who is also a veteran in our sport.
