The Asian boxers achieved 12 gold medals in the traditional Silesian Open Women’s Tournament where legend Mary Kom became a star

The thirteenth edition of the Silesian Open Women’s Boxing Tournament was finished in a small Polish town in Gliwice where all of the finals are held and these contests delivered strong Asian successes. Following the first six Asian titles in the opening day of the finals, the youth and elite boxers increased the number of our continent’s titles up to 12 in the Silesian Open Women’s Boxing Tournament.
The junior boxers who were born in 2002 and in 2003 were eligible to compete in the Silesian Open Women’s Boxing Tournament in Gliwice. The youth boxers who were born in 2000 and in 2001 were also competed in the event in Poland. Nearly 200 boxers attended in the elite, youth and junior level of boxing in the Silesian Open Women’s Boxing Tournament where India and Kazakhstan had strong successes.
India’s AIBA Women’s Youth World Champion Jyoti has been preparing to the Youth Olympic Games and spent only less than one round in the ring against Poland’s Wiktoria Rogalinska and advanced to the final of the youth flyweight (51kg). The 18-year-old Indian talent dominated her final fight against Poland’s Tatiana Pluta and proved she is in top form. The referee confirmed her RSC success in the second round in Gliwice.
India’s five-time AIBA Women’s World Champion and five-time ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte is still enjoying the sport and returned to the light flyweight (48kg) in the recent one year. The Indian veteran defeated Ukraine’s Hanna Okhota in the semi-final and she was slightly better than Kazakhstan’s Aigerim Kasenayeva in the final of the Silesian Open.
Kazakhstan’s Rio 2016 Olympian Zhaina Shekerbekova replaced Nazym Kyzaibay in the national team at the flyweight (51kg) for this Silesian Open and used up all of her experiences to beat Poland’s Sandra Drabik in the final. Kazakhstan’s 22-year-old Karina Ibragimova surprised the crowd when she defeated Russia’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medallist Anastasia Beliakova in the final of the lightweight (60kg) raising the Central Asian boxing power’s gold medals up to two.
ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Madina Nurshayeva claimed only silver medal in the Silesian Open Women’s Boxing Tournament following her narrow loss to Ukraine’s Maria Badulina Bova at the light welterweight (64kg). Kazakhstan’s next title in the Silesian Open was achieved by Fariza Shaltay who was too strong for Poland’s young Agata Kaczmarska in Gliwice. AIBA Women’s World Champion Lyazzat Kungeibayeva secured Kazakhstan’s fourth titles in the event after beating Russia’s Kristina Tkacheva.
The Indian female junior talents claimed six gold medals in the Nations Junior Cup in Vrbas, Serbia last month and their squad impressed once again in the Silesian Open Women’s Boxing Tournament. India’s gold medals were achieved by Rajni, Naorem Babyrojisana Chanu, Poonam, Arundhati Chaudhary, Khushi and Komal one month ago. Among them Komal dominated her next international competition and won the title in Gliwice as well.
India’s first gold medal in the Silesian Open Women’s Boxing Tournament was achieved by Bharti who replaced Rajni at the pinweight (46kg) and defeated Poland’s Marta Kaleta in the final. Tingmila Doungel received the right at the very first time to attend in an international event but she was too quick for Germany’s experienced Maria-Elena Avram in the final of the junior light flyweight (48kg).
Sandeep Kaur has got strong roots in boxing and controlled her light bantamweight (52kg) final against Poland’s Izabela Rozkoszek in Gliwice. India’s fourth junior gold medal was taken by Neha who defeated a tough European boxer Latvia’s 15-year-old Nikolina Boke in the final of the bantamweight (54kg).
India’s fifth junior title in the Silesian Open Women’s Boxing Tournament was earned by Arshi Khanam who had to do her very best against Sweden’s Leona Surup in the final of the junior featherweight (57kg). India’s best junior boxer Komal impressed one month ago in Serbia and proved her strength in the final of the Silesian Open Women’s Boxing Tournament where she stopped Poland’s Natalia Zybura.
