The 9th Pearl of Kyrgyzstan Sports Games featured in Sary-Oy

The Pearl of Kyrgyzstan Youth & Junior Sports Games took place off the coast of the famous Issyk-Kul Lake where 15 male junior boxers earned their gold medals.

The Pearl of Kyrgyzstan Sports Games had junior and youth competitions and next to the Kyrgyz national and regional teams, Uzbekistan joined them with powerful boxers.

The recent Pearl of Kyrgyzstan Sports Games was the 9th edition and it is relatively a new boxing event in the developing Central Asian country.

Sary-Oy is a small village in the Issyk-Kul region and it has only 3,500 inhabitants but the natural environment guaranteed the success of the sport event.

Boxers who were born in 2009 or 2010, all were eligible to participate in the Pearl of Kyrgyzstan Sports Games with the participations of 73 pugilists. Kyrgyzstan’s high-ranked Referee & Judge, Mr. Aknazar Kenzhebayev was the Technical Delegate of the competition.

The Uzbek juniors started the men’s part of the competition with superb performance, three of their boxers won the gold medals in the smaller weight classes such as Abduvoris Rakhimjanov (42kg), the ASBC Asian Schoolboys bronze medallist Kamronbek Bakhodirov (44kg) and Javlonbek Makhamadisakov (46kg).

A 15-year-old Kyrgyz boxer from Balykchi, Nurislam Kanatbekov won the title of the light flyweight (48kg) following his clear success over Sanzhar Kholbutayev of Bishkek.

Nurlan Saparbekov bagged the second gold medal for Balykchi, the 16-year-old flyweight (50kg) boxer was dominant against Nurislam Makhamataliyev in the final.

Kyrgyzstan’s Nursultan Duyshonaliyev was quarter-finalist at the 2024 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and the Issyk-Kul region’s boxer moved up three categories successfully to beat Zhoodar Rustambekov in the light bantamweight (52kg) final.

Ibrokhim Shokirjonov claimed a silver medal at the 2024 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Al Ain and the Uzbek No.1 was too strong for all of his opponents at the lightweight (60kg), including Azim Temirbekov.

Kyrgyzstan’s Argen Asylbekov had the routine to win the next final against Nuradil Akmatov at the light welterweight (63kg) while an Osh-based experienced boxer, a National Champion, Kutman Duyshonaliyev was also too quick and technician for Salman Gasanov of Bishkek at the welterweight (66kg).

Bishkek’s Rayan Erkinov came from a boxing family and he stopped his final opponent at the middleweight (75kg), Islam Zhumabekov. Uzbekistan’s strong duo, Jakhongir Tuychibayev (80kg) and Asadbek Sultanbayev (+80kg) both won their finals by RSCs.
