Thailand’s strong youth team competes in the Boxam Youth Tournament in Spain this week

The host nation of the 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will be competing in Boxam Youth Tournament in Spain with six tough boxers this week. Thailand’s current youth squad is among Asia’s best and their coaches are expecting top performances from the young talents in the Boxam Youth Tournament especially from Thitisan Panmod, Atichai Phoemsap, Bannaphon Pannon and Peerapat Yeasungnoen.
Five out of the six participating Thai youth boxers were born in 2000 and have got the chance also to compete in the important year of 2018 when the Youth Olympic Games and its qualification events will be held. Before those tasks their young talents are ready to show their excellent technique in the prestigious Boxam Youth Tournament which will be holding in Benidorm, Spain this week.
Thailand has got always great traditions at the light flyweight (49kg) where their new sensation could be Thitisan Panmod who is the youngest boxer of their current team delegation. He will be turning to 17 only in December but he has won four major national titles in the recent three years and won the ASEAN Youth Boxing Championships with top performance. Thailand’s new pride was quarter-finalist also in the AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships in St. Petersburg two years ago and achieved bronze in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Bangkok.
Niwat Khitwanna competed in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships at the flyweight (52kg) in Bangkok this July but he was replaced by Sattawat Srisung this time. The 17-year-old Srisung was silver medallist at the ASEAN Youth Boxing Championships in Saraburi on March, moved up from the light flyweight (49kg) and received the right to compete for Thailand in the Boxam Youth Tournament.
Pluem Wangkhlaklang is one of the most experienced Thai youth boxer who claimed silver medal in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships but this time he can not take part in Spain. The 18-year-old bantamweight (56kg) boxer was replaced by Chonnati Yodyoi who is also member of the national team since 2015 and achieved silver at the ASEAN Youth Boxing Championships in Saraburi.
Thailand’s lightweight (60kg) boxer in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships was Sakda Ruamtham who received the right to compete there but a younger talent Atichai Phoemsap can prove his talent in the Boxam Youth Tournament. The 17-year-old boxer competed successfully in the main junior events in 2015 including in the AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships in St. Petersburg.
Bannaphon Pannon came from a strong boxing family, his father Suban was two-time Olympian and claimed medals in the AIBA and Asian events between 1997 and 2004. The younger Pannon competed already in four big events in the recent two years and following his title at the ASEAN Youth Boxing Championships he achieved bronze in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Bangkok this July.
Peerapat Yeasungnoen has been training in Korat who has got experiences from the 2015 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Tashkent and won the gold medal in the ASEAN Youth Boxing Championships in Saraburi this March. Thailand’s youth welterweight (69kg) No.1 was silver medallist in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships this July therefore he could be a weapon also in Spain.
