Ten new winners in the Kabul Selection Team Event

The Kabul Selection Team Event was held in the capital city of Afghanistan where high number of boxers competed for the medals. Afghanistan is a developing boxing nation in the Asian continent with great future potential in our sport as they have got a lot of athletes in our beloved combat sport.
Afghanistan has got a lot of financial problems and difficulties due political reasons but their boxers are brave fighters and trying to compete also in the international level. The Afghan national boxing team competed in the Asian Students Championships which was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan where they claimed one silver and one bronze medal.
The first gold medal of the Kabul Selection Team Event was achieved by Mohammad Sakhi at the Light Flyweight class (49 kg) who defeated talented boxers from the capital city of the country such as Faiz Aqa and Mohammed Masood. Sakhi was crowned in the Kabul University Sports Gymnasium which was the venue of the event.
National Cup winner 20-year-old Ahmad Faeq defeated his main rivals at the Flyweight class (52 kg) in Kabul where the local fans could see quick contests. Akhtari Cup winner Mohammad Naser proved strong performance in the competition at the Bantamweight class (56 kg) which delivered one of the best final in Kabul.
Altogether 84 boxers competed in the event and among them 20 were fighting for the medals at the Lightweight class (60 kg). Kabul’s Mohammad Naweed claimed the fourth gold medal in the event at the Lightweight class (60 kg) where he was too smart for Mohammad Khalid in the semi-final and Ahmad Sajad in the final.
Mohammad Kefayatullah claimed medals in the recent national competitions and had experiences in the ring which he showed against Mohammed Zeaullah in the final of the Light Welterweight class (64 kg). Twelve boxers have been competed for the medals at the Welterweight class (69 kg) where the best performance was delivered by Zone 1 boxer Mohammad Haroon who triumphed over university student Nezrab Shah in the final.
The Middleweight class (75 kg) was Afghanistan’s successful category in the recent decades and the new winner of the tournament was Sayed Zabihullah who came from Zone 1 and defeated Ahmed Fraidun in the gold medal bout. The next title was achieved by another Zon1 boxer Ahmad Munir who walked over to the final where his opponent Mohammad Shaeen was not able to stop him.
A Zone 4 boxer Mohammad Noorullah secured the ninth gold medal of the competition after beating Sheer Mohammadi in the final of the Heavyweight class (91 kg). The last gold medal of the competition was achieved by Zone 3’s Abdul Qader at the Super Heavyweight class (+91 kg) in the Kabul Selection Team Event.
