Temurkhon Sobirov delivered the main surprise of the second day of boxing at the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships

The second competition day of the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships saw 49 tough bouts in Tashkent. The women boxers started their road to the finals on Day2 which delivered successes for the new generation and some surprises. Temurkhon Sobirov caused the main upset of the day with the elimination of the ASBC Asian Youth Champion favourite Sukhrobjon Kayimov.

The number of the boxers is more than 300 in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships including 85 female and 248 male boxers in Tashkent. The most popular categories in the national event are the men’s lightweight (60kg) and men’s light welterweight (63kg) where the number of participating boxers are more than 40.

Boxers who were born between 1980 and 2003 are eligible to attend in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships where the venue is the Universal Sport Complex in Tashkent. Altogether 20 champions including ten female boxers will be crowned in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships.

The women boxers also began their campaigns with the preliminaries in the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships in Tashkent. Ferghana’s Khursandoy Kholmatova had good youth results in the recent years and she is now even stronger than ever following the hard training sessions. The 20-year-old boxer moved up to the featherweight (57kg) and impressed in the second day of boxing against Karakalpakstan’s Sirga Bisenbayeva.

Asadkhudja Muydinkhodjayev has got brilliant technique and amazing footwork therefore he was almost untouchable for Asadbek Abduraimov in the preliminary round of the light welterweight (63kg). The 18-year-old talent Umid Kadamboyev won his bout easily in Tashkent while experienced Boburmirzo Tolibov had to do his very best to eliminate Andizhan’s Sardorbek Ganiyev.

Khorezm’s Bangkok 2017 ASBC Asian Youth Champion Rajabboy Atanazarov moved up to the light heavyweight (81kg) and walked over to the next stage of boxing against Akbarjon Askarov. The main surprise of this weight category was delivered by Temurkhon Sobirov of Ferghana who eliminated Bukhara’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion and Zolotarev Memorial Tournament winner Sukhrobjon Kayimov.

Dzhizak’s Javokhir Togaymurodov is only 20 but he has high number of international bouts at the heavyweight (91kg). The ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist talent began his first round with lethal punches against Ibrokhimjon Ortikov of Namangan and dictated the tempo of the bout. Togaymurodov knocked down his opponent therefore Ortikov’s ringside decided to abandon the one-sided contest.

The super heavyweight (+91kg) is a tough category in Uzbekistan with several world class boxers among the entries. Tashkent region’s ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Abdulla Khudorganov dominated his debuting contest against Farkhod Shaymardanov. Uzbekistan’s super talented ASBC Asian Junior Champion 17-year-old Jakhongir Zokirov also controlled all of the rounds against Ferghana’s Saidazimkhon Madaminov in the heaviest weight class.
