Tanglatihan, Shan Jun and Zhao Longkai were the stars of the Chinese Men’s Elite National Championships

Shan Jun, the World silver medallist Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan and Zhao Longkai were the heroes of the Chinese Men’s Elite National Championships in the city of Shenzhen.

Altogether exactly 300 elite male boxers competed in the National Championships which made the event very busy in the venue. The Chinese National Games will be on the focus for them and the National Championships was the first selection on that road.

Guizhou’s Zhang Jiamao competed for China last year and he won several top international bouts therefore the flyweight (51kg) boxer had the routine to beat Fang Bo of Anhui and Liu Chuang of Wuhan to take the gold medal.

Guizhou’s next star, Lu Ping competed first in the 2014 Youth World Boxing Championships and he was China’s No.1 in his weight class in the recent years. The 29-year-old featherweight (57kg) boxer outpointed from his safest distance his final opponent, Chen Xinlin to earn his next national title.

Shan Jun returned to the national competitions after a short break and he had a fantastic performance in Shenzhen. The 31-year-old boxer moved up to the light welterweight (63.5kg) successfully to beat Xu Chen of Shanghai University in the final.

Guangdong’s Chen Ming (67kg) and a national team member from last year, Zhang Boxiong (71kg) won the next two titles in Shenzhen. The 19-year-old Yideresi Yideresi had experience from the 2024 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and he claimed his first elite national title after beating Yelijiefu Shaimaerdan of Gansu.

Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan is China’s best male boxer who claimed a silver at the World Boxing Championships and gold at the Asian Games. The Xinjiang-based light heavyweight (80kg) boxer was too smart and strong for Du Haoran of Jiangsu in the final of the National Championships.

Han Xuezhen was silver medallist at the recent Asian Games and the heavyweight (92kg) boxer decided to continue his career. The Henan-based boxer defeated a veteran, Meng Fanlong for the title while Xinjiang’s strong Askhan Rezibieke achieved only bronze this time.

The super heavyweight (+92kg) was a very strong category in the National Championships and the favourite, Danabieke Bayikewuzi from Xinjiang has been eliminated in the semi-finals. Following his early exit, Zhao Longkai defeated against Ma Jinyang for the title of the weight class where 20 boxers participated in the event.
