Tajikistan’s Asian champs Usmonov, Boltayev retain national titles

Asian champions Bakhodur Usmonov and Davlat Boltayev successfully defended their respective titles in the Tajikistan Men’s Elite National Championships that took place recently in the capital city of Dushanbe.

ASBC Asian Championships 2019 gold medalist and 2021 bronze winner Usmonov lorded over the light welterweight (63.5kg) division anew after drubbing Abdullo Sharipov in the final.

Reigning Asian U22 titlist Boltayev proved too quick to handle for Parviz Karimov as he cruised again to the top of the heavyweight (92kg) class.

Meanwhile, former Asian silver finisher Navruz Jafoev (cruiser-86kg), Asian U22 bronze medalist Khusravkhon Rakhimov (feather-57kg) and Universiade champ and Tokyo Olympian Shabbos Negmatulloev (light heavy-80kg) also dominated in the national joust.

Sugh emerged as the winningest region after claiming four of the 13 gold medals.

The Tajikistan elite national tourney also served as a selection for the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships scheduled to be held at the end of October.
