Syrymbetov, Mukatayev and Nurmuhammedov are on the top of the Nurmagambetov Tournament

Kazakhstan’s strong duo as Talgat Syrymbetov, Temirlan Mukatayev and Turkmenistan’s No.1, Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov all earned gold medals at the 28th Sagadat Nurmagambetov Tournament in Almaty.
Ten teams shared the 13 gold medals in Almaty and altogether 21 squads earned at least one medal in the Nurmagambetov Tournament. Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan competed in the strong international tournament where the number of the boxers was 218.
Azerbaijan sent a strong team to the Nurmagambetov Tournament and among their boxers two succeeded in the city of Almaty. Their Subkhan Mamedov (48kg) and Maksud Khasmetov (63.5kg) both defeated Kazakh opponents in their final bouts.
Kazakhstan’s Assylzhan Serikbay is a powerful boxer from Shymkent who earned several international titles at the featherweight (57kg) during his career. He bagged the next gold medal in Almaty where he was too strong for Tajikistan’s ASBC Asian U22 Championships runner-up Khusravkhon Rakhimov.
A lightweight (60kg) boxer, Talgat Syrymbetov represented Kazakhstan in several main events including the last World Boxing Championships as well. The experienced boxer had the better punches than Ruslan Kuzeubayev from Abay and Syrymbetov earned the well-deserved title in Almaty.
The Asian Games bronze medallist Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov is the best elite boxer in Turkmenistan and the 23-year-old hopeful bagged the title at the light middleweight (71kg). Turkmenistan’s No.1 defeated Kazakhstan’s former ASBC Asian Youth Champion Darkhan Duisebay in the best final of the event.
Temirlan Mukatayev is a two-time ASBC Asian Youth Champion boxer who lives and trains in Almaty and he is a National Elite Champion. The 21-year-old rising star landed the powerful combinations to the target area several times to beat Dauren Mamyr of Shymkent in the cruiserweight (86kg) final.
Turkestan region’s Bekbolat Abdikerim controlled all of the three rounds against Yersultan Sovetov and he took the title of the heavyweight (92kg). Kyzyl-Orda region’s Aslan Yeldybayuly moved up from the youth age group and he had the technical skills to beat Ramzan Saitov at the super heavyweight (+92kg) final.
