Syria and Iran will be holding joint training camps in the upcoming weeks to prepare together to the main objectives in 2021

The Syrian Arab Boxing Association and the Boxing Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be making joint training camps in their countries. The perfect cooperation between Iran and Syria will consist elite and youth training programs which will be done in four different sessions in the upcoming months in order to prepare well to the upcoming international competitions in the Olympic year.

Their first focus is on the upcoming World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which is planning to be held in Paris, France on June 2021. The Iranians earned altogether two quota places for the Tokyo Olympic Games through the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event but the Syrians don’t have any spots yet.

The President of the Syrian Arab Boxing Association Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib and the President of the Boxing Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Hossein Souri has got excellent collaboration to strengthen each other in the final stage of the Olympic preparations.

Syria’s eight best elite boxers will be attending in a training camp in Tehran, Iran between January 23 and February 6. The Syrians will be welcomed the Iranians in their homeland in two further training camps for the elite and youth boxers later.

The Syrian youth team will be also joining to the second Iranian training camp in the end of February. That second camp for the next generation boxers will be continuing until the 4th of March and supports the preparation to the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which took place in April.

The Syrians returned to their national training center still in summer period on June 2020 and their boxers have been preparing hard to the upcoming goals. Their management hosted two national events in the recent months, focuses to the youth age group and plans further sparring competitions and events for the younger boxers. The Iranians hold national training camps in Kish island and the country prepares to the next goals in 2021.

The Syrian Arab Boxing Association hosted its first National Test Sparring Event in Damascus on July 2020 which was part of the series of their competitions. Some of their top stars had to miss the July event but the next generation of the Syrian boxers shined in the opening national event.

Their second national event was held in September when 39 of their best elite and youth boxers attended in the top competition. The competition venue of the Syrian National Test Sparring Event was the Boxing Hall of the Alfeayhaa Sport Complex in their capital city where several of their new youth boxers proved strong developments.
