Swami, Rahmani, Papendang and Mary Kom all advanced to the finals of the Indonesian President’s Cup

Further important sixteen contests were held in the fifth competition day at the 23rd edition of the Indonesian President’s Cup in Labuan Bajo. India’s Neeraj Swami and Afghanistan’s Ramish Rahmani continued the surprises in the event while six-time AIBA Women’s World Champion Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte had to do her best to win the semi-final.
Altogether 34 women and 55 men boxers will be attending in the Indonesian President’s Cup in Labuan Bajo. The gold, silver and bronze medalists and the best team of the event will be received money prizes at the 23rd President’s Cup. Among the world’s best squads United States of America, India, South Korea, Ukraine, Thailand, Italy, Australia and many others are competing in Labuan Bajo.
Philippines’ Ramel Macado involved to the national team in the recent two years and he proved his great footwork also at the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok. The Filipino light flyweight (49kg) boxer spent two minutes only in the ring when the referee confirmed his RSC triumph against Sri Lanka’s Gayan Indika Bandara which means Macado advanced to the final of the President’s Cup.
India’s Neeraj Swami eliminated Indonesia’s defending President’s Cup winner Mario Blasius Kali four days ago during his road to the semi-finals. The Indian light flyweight (49kg) hope caused the main surprise of today’s combats with his success over Indonesia’s No.1 Kornelis Kwangu Langu in Labuan Bajo. Swami will be meeting for the title of the President’s Cup with Philippines’ Ramel Macado.
Afghanistan’s Ramish Rahmani delivered a superb success on Day4 when he stopped Ukraine’s Maksym Fatych winning the bout by RSC and claiming a guaranteed medal in Labuan Bajo. Afghanistan’s new flyweight (52kg) hope continued his winning path and defeated Philippines’ Crissan Paul Diacamos by unanimous decision. Rahmani will be boxing for the title of the President’s Cup with India’s Ananta Prashad Chopade who eliminated Sri Lanka’s Piyal Dharmasena.
India’s Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Gaurav Bidhuri is one of the most experienced male boxers in Labuan Bajo but he had to do his very best to eliminate Philippines’ Junmilardo Ogayre in a hectic contest. Bidhuri will be facing for the gold medal of the bantamweight (56kg) with Indonesia’s A team member Jill Mandagie who defeated his teammate Lucky Augusto Hari on Day5.
Indonesia’s most experienced national team member, three-time ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships competitor Farand Papendang walked over to the final of the lightweight (60kg) following his compatriot Gresty Alfons did not fight today. Papendang’s next opponent for the title will be South Korea’s former Asian Games competitor veteran Kim Ju Seong who triumphed over Indonesia’s Yohanis Saju Lebi.
India’s ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Ankush Dahiya knocked out Afghanistan’s Belal Noor in the quarter-finals of the light welterweight (64kg) and defeated his next rival South Korea’s You Gi Heon. Macau’s historical success was achieved by Leung Kin Fong who defeated Hong Kong’s Cheung Shun Hang in the quarter-finals and walked over to the finals following his opponent Ukraine’s Oleksandr Zheleznyak were unable to box against him.
India’s boxing icon six-time AIBA Women’s World Champion Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte had an unexpected hard way to the final of the flyweight (51kg) but she was able to beat Vietnam’s Anh Vo Thi Kim in a spectacular contest. Mary Kom’s final opponent will be Australia’s April Franks who outpointed Philippines’ Claudine Veloso in a one-sided contest in Labuan Bajo.
