Surprise winners at the Mongolian Youth National Championships

Several surprise finals delighted the busy Mongolian Youth National Championships which finished in the city of Darkhan-Uul.

The Mongolians will be competing at the upcoming ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan later this month and the event was the main selection competitions for their youth talents.

Record number of 96 female boxers competed in the Mongolian Youth National Championships in the city of Darkhan-Uul which hosts the event for the first time. The number of the male boxers was 173 in this youth national event therefore the total number of athletes was altogether 269.

The women’s minimumweight (48kg) has impressive number of 23 participants in the Mongolian Youth National Championships and among them Altangadas Altanzul won the final against the favourite Gantulga Khaliun.

Enkh-Amgalan Nomundari used her international routine to dominate the women’s light flyweight (50kg) in Darkhan-Uul. Amina Azjargal caused the main sensation in the event due to her unexpected 3:2 split decision success against the multiple National Champion Lkham Tsendbaatar at the women’s flyweight (52kg).

Erdenebileg Anudari had the punctual shots at the women’s featherweight (57kg) final and she defeated G. Maraljin in the final. B. Nomin-Erdene was too strong for all of her rivals at the women’s lightweight (60kg) including her final opponent against Damdindorj Munkhtsetseg.

Sainbayar Zolboo is one of their international boxers and she accomplished her gold medal target at the light welterweight (63kg) following a clear success over L. Nandin-Erdene. Buyantuvshin Altanjargal (66kg) and their Asian Junior bronze medallist Gerelmunkh Enkhgerel (70kg) controlled all of their fights in Darkhan-Uul.

Twenty boxers competed at the men’s minimumweight (48kg) and an experienced talent, Bat-Ireedui Davgadorj was able to beat Sarankhuu Tuguldur in the final bout. Darkhantsetseg Dashnyam won all of his four contests at the men’s flyweight (51kg) and Sumiya Gantogtokh was not enough skilled to stop him in the final.

Dulguunsaikhan Kharkhuu was born in a boxing family and he continued the traditions achieving a gold medal in Darkhan-Uul where he defeated the Asian Youth bronze medallist Taivanbat Tsogtsaikhan in the final of the bantamweight (54kg).

Manal Tsendbaatar was the main favourite at the men’s featherweight (57kg) but he lost his final to Bulgankhuu Amgalanbaatar by 3:2 split decision. Erdenebold Munkh-Erdene was the best at the lightweight (60kg) without any questions, he won the final over Narantsogt Batbuyan by RSC in the first round.

Batzaya Ochirdari defeated strong rivals at the men’s welterweight (67kg) during his road to the title but Tamir Davaajav (71kg), the ethnically Kazakh Erbol Bakhberdi (75kg) and Ganbaatar Davaadorj (80kg) also amazed in the Youth Nationals.
