Suresh Vishvanath and Bishwamitra Chongtham are finalists in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships

The second part of the youth semi-finals were held with 20 bouts in the eighth competition day of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. India’s tough youth duo as Suresh Vishvanath and Bishwamitra Chongtham advanced to the finals after their semi-finals successes.

The best 24 female talents and 26 male youth boxers remained in actions and all of them can prepare now to their final bouts which will be held this Monday. All of the youth weight categories were in action in the eighth competition day which had a long session today but the experts recognized many talents in Dubai. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, and Iran have got youth finalists in the championship.

The number of the junior boxers is 152 while 141 youth athletes are competing in the Dubai event. Altogether 293 boxers including 84 girls are attending in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. The Technical Delegate of the competition is Mrs. Marina Ni of Kazakhstan who supports the success of the event.

Fifteen nations sent their boxers to the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai: Bahrain, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Mongolia, Nepal, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan. The competition is streamed in the ASBC YouTube channel and the fans can follow all of the sessions in the upcoming nearly two weeks.

The company of Green Hill is the official equipment provider as in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships which is a money prize event, all of the medallists can earn cash prizes. Altogether record number of 51 champions will be crowned in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships, 25 girls and 26 boys.

India’s Suresh Vishvanath will meet with Kazakhstan’s AIBA Youth World Champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay in the final of the youth light flyweight

India’s Suresh Vishvanath claimed gold medal at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships at the age of 15 and he robbed into the world of boxing with that result and strong performance. The currently 17-year-old Indian is one of their top youth male boxers now and he met in the semi-finals of the light flyweight (48kg) with Bahrain’s Sayed Fadhel Abdulla which was the opening bout of the day. The Indian worked from loner distance and his counter-shots were successful in their semi-final but Abdulla also proved his talent in the championship. Bahrain’s first ever ASBC medallist was competitive in their semi-final but the bout was won by the Indian who will be boxing for the title with Kazakhstan’s AIBA Youth World Champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay.

India’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Bishwamitra Chongtham is finalist

India’s Bishwamitra Chongtham also claimed gold medal at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships as Suresh Vishvanath and he performed amazingly in the quarter-finals of the youth flyweight (51kg). He met with Tajikistan’s Akbarali Abdurakhmanzoda who had similar high speed as the Indian talent therefore the first round was a remarkable one between them. Chongtham did not shine enough as in the quarter-finals due to his opponent was also world class, but he worked well to take the lead after six minutes of fight. The 18-year-old Indian has done enough to win this semi-final and advanced to the title bout of the weight class where Uzbekistan’s Akhmadjon Kuziboyev will be his last opponent in Dubai.

Kazakhstan’s Abdikarim Abdigalym surprisingly defeated Murodov in the last four

Tajikistan’s Abubakr Murodov achieved silver medal at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships at the age of 15 and returned to his next Asian event as a youth talent. The 17-year-old Tajik boxer proved strong development in the previous stage of the championship and faced in his key semi-final with Kazakhstan’s Abdikarim Abdigalym. Murodov and his Kazakh opponent both landed effective shots in the first round which was a strong tactical game between them. Both boxers used the former Soviet school and tried to overcame each other in their semi-final which was the next strong battle of the day. The Kazakh talent was slightly better in these games and will be boxing for the gold medal with Iraq’s Mohammed Anwar Makassees.

Kyrgyzstan’s first youth finalist in Omar Livaza

Kyrgyzstan’s Omar Livaza arrived to the competition as newcomer in the international stage but he reached strong results in the national and regional events. The Kyrgyz lightweight (60kg) boxer met with Iran’s Mohammed Parsi who could not adopt the level of his opponent in the opening round. The 17-year-old Kyrgyz attacked from the first seconds and caught his Iranian opponent with tough shots. The Kyrgyz southpaw impressed also in the second round when his uppercuts and hooks reached the target against the Iranian who could not use his longer hands. Livaza stopped the Iranian attacks in the third with heavy body shots and will be boxing with Kazakhstan’s Yerassyl Yermek for the gold.

Yelnur Suyunbay amazed in his semi-final bout

Kazakhstan’s Yelnur Suyunbay achieved silver medal at the Kielce 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships where he had a spectacular final against Japan’s Reito Tsutsumi. The Kazakh moved up to the light welterweight (63.5kg) but is still taller than all of his rivals including Kyrgyzstan’s Ikhtiyar Nishonov in the semi-finals. Suyunbay was a hard target for the Kyrgyz talent who eliminated an Uzbek opponent already in Dubai but the Kazakh was too tall for him. Suyunbay landed single jabs in the first round and he worked better also in the second kept the best distance against the Kyrgyz hope. The Kazakh talent used his tricky style of boxing and enjoyed the last round which means he can box for the title with India’s Vanshaj on Monday.

India’s Jaydeep Rawat had a lucky success at the light middleweight

Kyrgyzstan’s Bekbol Murasbekov defeated a top national rival, well-experienced Sagyn Satybaldy Uulu in the final of their Youth National Championships but after that he moved down to the new light middleweight (71kg). The 17-year-old Kyrgyz tried to keep the best fighting distance in the first round against India’s attacking Jaydeep Rawat but received tough shots. Murasbekov used his longer hands better in the second round and he remained his chance alive to win this tight semi-final. The referee counted the Indian in the third round but Rawat won their tight contest and will be meeting with Uzbekistan’s Alokhon Abdullaev in the final contest.

Kyrgyzstan’s Sanzhar Akmatov stopped his semi-final opponent while Uralov is also finalist

Kyrgyzstan’s Sanzhar Akmatov is a newcomer in the national team but he proved strong performance in the first round against Kuwait’s Abdullah Al-Shammari. His opponent started bravely but Akmatov stopped him with tough body shots quickly and the South Korean referee counted the Kuwaiti boxer. The young Kyrgyz continued to combine his attacks to the body and to the head therefore the referee stopped their light heavyweight (80kg) semi-final which means Akmatov will be meeting for the title with India’s Vishal Gupta. Uzbekistan’s Diyorbek Uralov had difficulties in the first round against Iran’s Aryan Saedpanah but he turned up the heat and eliminated his rival at the cruiserweight (86kg). 

Kazakhstan’s Madi Amirov solved his tough tactical issue today

Kazakhstan’s Madi Amirov competed in the recent major junior and youth championships and developed step by step in the recent two years. The Kazakh heavyweight (92kg) boxer attacked from the first seconds against a tall Iranian opponent, Mahdi Jashnani who is a debutant in the international stage. Amirov boxed smarter from the second round, he calmed down and landed good shots from all of the possible angles. The 18-year-old Kazakh eliminated a new Iranian hope in the semi-final of this weight class and he can box for the title with Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Nusratbek Tokhirov.  

Kazakhstan’s Daniyal Saparbay can meet for the gold with Jakhongir Zokirov

Kazakhstan’s Youth National Champion Daniyal Saparbay can attends in his first ever major championships but he is such an experienced super heavyweight (+91kg) boxer. The Kazakh met in the semi-finals with United Arab Emirates’ Mohammed Saeed Al-Hufaiti who opened the first exchanges in attacking style. Saparbay landed single jabs against the inexperienced local hope and one of them was too strong for Al-Hufaiti. The UAE boxer had a good hook in the second round but received a lot of jabs from the Kazakh side and one of them decided their semi-final. The new Kazakh hope will be meeting for the title of the super heavyweight (+91kg) with Uzbekistan’s AIBA Youth World Champion Jakhongir Zokirov.

Farzona Fozilova used her amazing technical skills

Uzbekistan’s Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament winner Farzona Fozilova is a fantastic talent in our sport who used her world class footwork in the first round against Kazakhstan’s Gulnaz Buribayeva. The Uzbek, who will be turning to 18 later this year, landed shots from the best angles in the first round and took the lead on the scorecards. Fozilova met with stronger resistance in the second round but she landed beautiful combinations adopting the higher rhythm in the battle of the southpaw boxers. Fozilova eliminated a quality opponent and will be meeting for the title with India’s Nivedita Karki.

Kazakhstan’s Zhuldyz Shayakhmetova won a difficult semi-final

Kazakhstan’s Zhuldyz Shayakhmetova achieved silver medal at the AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships in Kielce but she had hard job in the first round of the lightweight (60kg) semi-final with Mongolia’s Myagmarsuren Tsetsegdari. The 18-year-old Kazakh started the second round better and landed a few quick combinations as a start of this period. Shayakhmetova was more active in the second round but Tsetsegdari also proved her strength and potential for the future. The Mongolian was competitive today but Shayakhmetova has done enough to win this tight semi-final which means the Kazakh can fight for the gold medal with India’s Preeti Dahiya.
