Strong Thai team aims for titles in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships

The host nation of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will be competing in Bangkok with six tough boxers. Their current youth squad is among Asia’s best and their coaches are expecting top performances from the young talents especially Thitisan Panmod, Pluem Wangkhlaklang, Sakda Ruamtham and Bannaphon Pannon.
Four of the Thai youth boxers were born in 2000 and have got the chance also to compete in the important year of 2018 when the Youth Olympic Games and its qualification events will be held. Before those tasks their young talents are ready to show their excellent technique in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships.
Thailand has got always great traditions at the light flyweight (49kg) where their new sensation could be Thitisan Panmod who is the youngest boxer of their current team delegation. He will be turning to 17 only in December but he has won four major national titles in the recent three years and won the ASEAN Youth Boxing Championships with top performance. Thailand’s new pride was quarter-finalist also in the AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships in St. Petersburg two years ago where he defeated star rivals as well.
Niwat Khitwanna competed already in the 2014 edition of the Thai Junior National Games but he is new in the national youth team. He celebrated his 17th birthday only in May and ready to show his great technique in the upcoming continental event. His best achievement is a gold medal from the ASEAN Youth Boxing Championships which was held in Saraburi, Thailand this March.
Pluem Wangkhlaklang is one of the most experienced Thai youth boxer who arrived from Nakhon Ratchasima to the venue. The 18-year-old bantamweight (56kg) was bronze medallist at the 2015 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Tashkent and competed all of the important ASBC and AIBA youth and junior events in the recent two years. Following those fabulous experiences he is now among the gold medal contenders of the category in Bangkok.
Thailand’s lightweight (60kg) boxer in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will be Sakda Ruamtham who replaced a younger talent Atichai Phoemsap in the final minute. Ruamtham is also a top youth talent who achieved his career highlight, a bronze medal in the 2015 AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships in St. Petersburg.
Bannaphon Pannon came from the boxing family, his father Suban was two-time Olympian and claimed medals in the AIBA and Asian events between 1997 and 2004. The young Pannon competed already in three big events in the recent two years and following his title at the ASEAN Youth Boxing Championships he is ready to win at least a medal in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships.
Peerapat Yeasungnoen has been training in Korat who has got experiences from the 2015 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Tashkent and won the gold medal in the ASEAN Youth Boxing Championships in Saraburi this March. Thailand’s youth welterweight (69kg) No.1 could be their secret weapon in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships.
