Southeast Asian Games bronze medallist Nat Seiknin wins in the Cambodian National Championships

The Cambodian National Boxing Championships for the elite men boxers was held in Sky Land which is located in the Kandal Province. Cambodia’s most experienced national team member Nat Sieknin dominated the lightweight (60kg) in the competition and he could be his country’s best weapon in the international events in 2018.
Cambodia sent boxers to the Southeast Asian Games which was held in Kuala Lumpur last August and the country took one bronze medal in the boxing tournament. Cambodia competed at the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships at the very first time with the support of ASBC President Mr. Serik Konakbayev.
The first edition of the Cambodian National Games was held in 2016 where boxing was also involved to the official program. Cambodia has been preparing to their 2023 Southeast Asian Games which will be held in their capital city in Phnom Penh therefore the Cambodian Boxing Federation mobilized all of their sources to be competitive in that home multisport event in five years.
Army’s Sao Raingsey achieved the first title in the Cambodian National Championships which was his first big success in his career. Raingsey advanced to the final of the light flyweight (49kg) who had to meet with Cambodian National Games silver medallist Sokhon Rigavutha of Phnom Penh. The Army boxer was enough smart in the opening final to win the gold medal in Sky Land.
Thorn Theara of Phnom Penh was the second winner in the Cambodian National Boxing Championships following his triumph over Kream Chamrong of Kampong Chhnang at the flyweight (52kg). Penh Vanthorng of Phnom Penh is also not a well-known boxer at the bantamweight (56kg) but he was able to beat Rong Sarath of Prey Veng in the title contest at the Cambodian National Boxing Championships.
Cambodia’s most experienced boxer Nat Sieknin competed in the recent two editions of the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore and also in Kuala Lumpur where he bagged a valuable bronze medal. The international boxer moved up one category and competed at the lightweight (60kg) this time but his skills were too much for Mai Veasna of Ratanakiri in the final of the national event.
Vy Sophorn of Phnom Penh took the next title in the Cambodian national Boxing Championships following his victory over Ministry of Interior’s National Games bronze medallist Neang Ny. Another boxer from Phnom Penh, Vy Savuth won the gold medal after beating Phang Sopheap of Ratanakiri in the final of the welterweight (69kg).
The middleweight (75kg) title has gone to Ministry of Interior’s Leng Ly who did enough in the final against Battambang’s National Games bronze medallist Yous Ik Gil. Ministry of Interior’s Phon Phanna controlled his final against Pang Borin of Kampong Chhnang at the light heavyweight (81kg) which was the heaviest category in the Cambodian National Boxing Championships.
