Sixteen young hopes are on the top at the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships including the 12-year-old Damir Dzhansilikov

Sixteen young hopes celebrated their gold medals at the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships in the city of Kostanay after the tough finals.

The boxers from the city of Almaty claimed three gold medals in the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships and they became the best team in Kostanay. Turkestan region finished second with two gold, four silver and four bronze medals in the Nationals where ten of the teams earned titles.

Boxers who were born in 2011 and in 2012, were eligible to participate in the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships. The city of Kostanay was the host of several international, regional and national competitions in the recent years.

Altogether 431 boxers from 20 regions and cities competed in the Kazakhstan Schoolboys National Championships. The Turkestan and the Kostanay regions sent 23 young pugilists to the national event but the city of Almaty and the Dzhambul region both will have 22 boxers in the schoolboy competition.

Boxers could participate at the 30kg, 33kg, 35kg, 37kg, 40kg, 43kg, 46kg, 49kg, 52kg, 55kg, 58kg, 61kg, 64kg, 67kg, 70kg and +70kg weight categories in Kostanay.

Zhetysu region’s Nurym Bakdaulet became the first winner of the Schoolboys National Championships following he walked over to the gold medal at the 30kg weight class.

Almaty’s Damir Dzhansilikov was the only boxer from the 2012 age group who could win the national title in Kostanay. He outpointed Assylzhan Lesbek of Turkestan region in the final of the 33kg weight class which delivered high quality of contests in Kostanay.

Daulet Tenelbay is Atyrau region’s best talent in this age group and he managed to win the 35kg weight class final against Sayat Sambet. Turkestan region’s Birzhan Zhakyp demonstrated his future potential in our sport in all of his contests including the final against Azamat Bektemir.

Kuanysh Khalimbet continued Turkestan region’s winning path in the finals, he had a successful mission against Meyrkhan Saparbekov. Almaty’s Aslan Kaynarbay had a difficult final at the 43kg weight class against Dinmukhammed Anuar of Shymkent but he managed to win the gold medal with a great finish.

Shyngys Akhmetov and Zholzhigit Zhetpisbay both had dramatic finals in the Schoolboys National Championships but the youngsters won their title contests by 3:2 split decisions against Amir Nurbolat and Tamerlan Kayirzhan.

Almaty’s Nurbakyt Toregeldi had to meet his teammate, Nurbek Mukhitdin in the final of the 55kg weight class and he won that crucial fight. Zhandos Kalkanov (58kg) and Miras Kuanyshev (61kg) were confident in their finals and Pavlodar region’s Nurislam Tashmaganbet (+70kg) is also a boxer who need to be watched in the future.
