Singapore’s new woman boxer Samantha Quek – “This is only my fourth year in boxing but I will do my very best in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships”

The upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships will be starting with its first competition day on April 18 in Bangkok, Thailand but the teams have been preparing hard to the event. Singapore’s newcomer Samantha Quek Shing Wei will be making her debut in continental events in Bangkok and she introduced herself to ASBC.
Singapore will be sending a bigger delegation as in the past, three women boxers and two male athletes to the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships to Bangkok. Singapore formed its women’s boxing team only a few years ago and their female athletes have done their debut in the ASBC continental level in Ho Chi Minh City two years ago.
Samantha Quek Shing Wei attended in the national events in the recent years before she received the right to represent her country in the international stage in 2018. The 26-year-old boxer attended in the Kapolri Cup in Manado City, Indonesia last July which was her first international competition and won her preliminary bout as a start.
“My preparation is running according to our plans and I am satisfied. I am expecting high level of competition and a new chance to show my very best in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships.
I train twice a day six days a week. I just focus on doing my best in every aspect of boxing, conditioning and recovering. I am new in the national team in Singapore and the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships will be my first big competition. I am so excited to be able to have this chance.
I did Muay Thai for two months before I fractured my spine. I also had a knee injury so I switched to boxing and found that I had a lot of passion for it. I am pretty new in the international events and this is only my fourth year in boxing but I will do my very best in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok,”
