Shoira Zulkaynarova and teenagers shined in the Tajikistan Women’s National Championships
The Women’s National Boxing Championships of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in their capital in Dushanbe where ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships bronze medallist Shoira Zulkaynarova won her Olympic weight class in Dushanbe.
Altogether 41 elite women boxers competed in the female part of the competition which is record in the history of the Tajikistan National Championships. It was the very first time in the history of Tajikistan Women’s National Championships when their female talents could fight in all of the ten categories. London 2012 Olympic Games bronze medallist Mavzuna Chorieva had to miss the competition this time.
Khatlon’s newcomer Khusniya Kholova stopped National Women’s Championships silver medallist Zulfiya Boyeva in the semi-final and defeated Dushanbe’s Khosiyat Nazarova in the first final of the Tajikistan National Championships. The 19-year-old talent secured her first ever national elite title at the light flyweight (48kg).
Rukhafzo Khaknazarova claimed the gold medal in the 2016 Tajikistan Women’s Youth National Championships and delivered a big surprise in her first ever elite competition. The 18-year-old flyweight (51kg) boxer had to meet in the final with Dushanbe’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships competitor Svetlana Veglina and following her amazing combinations she defeated her top rival in the event.
Madina Gaforova is only 18 as Khaknazarova but she won the next weight class in the national event following her quick RSC triumph over Yosuman Abdurakhmonova. Defending Champion Gulfina Urunova competed in various international tournaments in Russia, in Kazakhstan and in Uzbekistan in the recent years therefore her success at the featherweight (57kg) was not a surprise in the event.
In the absence of the London 2012 Olympic Games bronze medallist Mavzuna Chorieva another experienced international boxer Shoira Zulkaynarova dominated the lightweight (60kg) in the national event. She defeated national team member Gularus Shoyeva in the semi-final and stopped Farzona Mamadjanova in the gold medal bout.
Dushanbe’s Nilufar Boboyorova secured her first ever national title after walking over to the gold against Adiba Gulova in the final of the light welterweight (64kg). The next gold medal was achieved by another newcomer in the female boxing Dushanbe’s Munisa Sharipova who eliminated experienced former National Champion Nodira Karimova and Dilnoza Odinayeva as well in their welterweight (69kg) contests.
Dushanbe’s Mizhgona Boboyeva competed at the 2015 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships in Taipei and claimed gold medals in the Tajikistan Women’s Youth National Championships in 2015 and in 2016. She was the titleholder of the middleweight (75kg) and the 19-year-old boxer was able to dominate her final against Tamano Mirzoyeva.
Sangimo Nozirova was the favourite of the women’s light heavyweight (81kg) in Dushanbe but she was not able to survive the first round against Khatlon’s Davlat Shakhnozai in the final of the event. Tajikistan’s female heavyweight (+81kg) No.1 Gulmira Isroilova attended in a few international events in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan therefore her experiences were enough to beat Djurabek Zulkhichan and Parvina Artoyeva as well.
