Shahrazi and Ridzuan were the bests at the Malaysian National Championships

The finals of the Malaysian National Championships featured in the city of Penampang in Sabah province where Mohamad Shahrazi and Muhammad Ridzuan amazed the officials and the crowd.
Penampang is located near to Kota Kinabalu, it is the capital of the district in the West Coast Division of Sabah State and also the commercial centre of the region. Mr. Wan Abdul Hamid, one of the most experienced Asian International Technical Officials worked in the Malaysian National Championships as the Technical Delegate.
The Malaysians will use the National Championships as one of the selection competitions for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games which will be held in Thailand this December.
Malaysia will host the so-called Sukma, the National Games for the U22 boxers in 2026 and for the young talents, the upcoming National Championships is important in the preparation for that multisport event.
The 19-year-old Jacquelina Deirdra Richard of Sabah won the Sarawak Open Boxing Championships in 2024 and she continued her winning path in the Malaysian Elite National Championships. The teenage talent defeated Yasmeen Najwa Binte Nazeer Hamka in the final of the minimumweight (48kg) while Gloria Isabelle Hoong won the second female category.
The men’s minimumweight (48kg) is a key category in Malaysia’s boxing life and their Mohamad Shahrazi Bin Sepri became the best in the national event after beating Mohamed Ikhwan Alfateh Bin Jalibin.
Mohamad Alif had a very tough semi-final bout at the men’s flyweight (51kg) but he survived the most dangerous moments and he defeated the favourite, Mohamed Danish Danial and after that tight success, he controlled the final over Mohamed Sukandar Bin Zakri.
Muhammad Ridzuan Bin Jamil Aris is a well experienced boxer in the national stage and he was excellent in all of his four contests including the bantamweight (54kg) final against Ariffin Medin of Sabah.
Frederic Japri competed in several regional and national events with successes but he showed his progress at the featherweight (57kg) which he won against Syafi Syamil Bin Faizal. Muhammad Ridzuan Bin Mohamed Johari won the next busy category, the light welterweight (63.5kg) where 15 boxers competed for the title.
Muhammad Shahrizad Bin Baslan stopped most of his opponents at the welterweight (67kg) but he had to do his very best in the final against Muhammad Shahrul Amirul. Muhammad Fitry Bin Othman (75kg), Mohamed Firdaus Bin Aziz (80kg) and Malaysia’s best heavyweight (92kg) boxer, the experienced Indran Al Ramakrishnan all were confident in the National Championships.
