Sayed Fadhel Abbas Abdulla won Bahrain’s first ever medal in the Asian Boxing Championships

Twenty-eight youth quarter-final bouts were held in the fourth competition day of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates today. Bahrain secured its first ever medal in the history of any ASBC Asian Boxing Championships following their Sayed Fadhel Abbas Abdulla won his quarter-final bout by RSC.

The number of the junior boxers is 152 while 141 youth athletes are competing in the Dubai event. Altogether 293 boxers including 84 girls are attending in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships.

Fifteen nations sent their boxers to the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai: Bahrain, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Mongolia, Nepal, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan. The competition is streamed in the ASBC YouTube channel and the fans can follow all of the sessions in the upcoming nearly two weeks.

The company of Green Hill is the official equipment provider as in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships which is a money prize event, all of the medallists can earn cash prizes. Altogether record number of 51 champions will be crowned in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships, 25 girls and 26 boys.

Uzbekistan’s Mukhammadkodir Mamirjonov proved amazing technical skills on Day4

Uzbekistan’s Mukhammadkodir Mamirjonov is the next sensation of the country at the youth light flyweight (48kg) who robbed into the world of boxing with a gold medal at the Yukov Prizes Youth Tournament in Belarus this February. The Uzbek talent felt the rhythm in the first round against Iraq’s Anwar Haidar and stopped his opponent’s attacks. Mamirjonov boxed smartly and his tactical superiority guaranteed the advantage for him after three minutes of fight. The 18-year-old Uzbek caught his Iraqi opponent with tough shots in the second round and he was a hard target for Haidar and almost untouchable. Mamirjonov amazed in the bout and will be boxing for the final with Kazakhstan’s Sanzhar Tashkenbay in a repeat match.

Bahrain’s Sayed Fadhel Abbas Abdulla was quarter-finalist at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and he was near to get a historical medal for his nation. The 18-year-old boxer competes at the youth light flyweight (48kg) now and tried to start the first round against Kuwait’s Falah Al-Rashidi but received punches from longer distance. Abdulla had three years of experiences in our sport and he worked hard to catch the Kuwaiti southpaw and he had a short advantage on the scorecards. Bahrain arrived with two talents to the event and Abdulla gave in everything to achieve a medal for the country at the very first time. The Kuwaiti boxer went down to the floor following a right-handed hook and after that Abdulla finished their quarter-final which means he earned the most awaited medal for Bahrain.

Kyrgyzstan’s Diyorbek Tilavaldiyev made a fantastic comeback

Kyrgyzstan’s Diyorbek Tilavaldiyev won their Youth National Championships in the beginning of the year and he opened his campaign well also in Dubai on Day2. The 17-year-old Kyrgyz had to meet with India’s Victor Shaikhom Singh who won international tournaments as junior and youth boxer. The Indian kept the best fighting distance and his speed controlled their exchanges in the first round. The southpaw Singh worked from longer distance in the bout against the attacking Kyrgyz who performed better in the second round and caught the Indian. Tilavaldiyev was never stopped attacking and his pressurizing style was uncomfortable for the technician Indian therefore the Kyrgyz will be meeting in the semi-finals of the bantamweight (54kg) with Iran’s Aliasghar Afshari.

Iraq’s Makassees and Iran’s Saeidi are semi-finalists at the featherweight 

Iraq’s Mohammed Anwar Makassees competed already at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and he was more experienced than Kuwait’s Naser Khazal in their featherweight (57kg) quarter-final. The 18-year-old Iraqi boxer dictated the tempo from the first seconds and shocked his Kuwaiti opponent with his strength already in the first round. The Uzbek referee counted twice Khazal and after these actions he confirmed the Iraqi talent’s RSC success. Makassees will now meet in the semi-final with Iran’s Poorya Saeidi who walked over to the last four following his local opponent was unable to box against him.

Kazakhstan’s Abdigalym Abdikarim opened his ASBC event with a clear success

Abdigalym Abdikarim trains in the Turkestan region and following his national successes, he received the right to compete at the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. He met with Kyrgyzstan’s Turgunbek Imankadyrov who tried to reduce the fighting distance in their quarter-final at the featherweight (57kg). Abdikarim used his longer reach well enough and he landed his shots from the best possible angles following their head coach, Mr. Kairat Satzhanov’s strategy. The Kazakh boxer was better in all aspects of boxing and eliminated his neighbouring rival in Dubai winning the bout unanimously.

Tajikistan’s super talented Abubakr Murodov eliminated his Indian rival

Tajikistan’s ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist Abubakr Murodov met in a superb featherweight (57kg) quarter-final with India’s Vijay Singh. The 17-year-old Tajik was active in the first minutes and tried to overcame the Indian boxer with right-handed uppercuts. Murodov led 10:9 in each scorecard after the first round and he kept continuing in the same style in the second when he looked quicker than his Indian opponent. The younger Tajik talent found the best counter-attacking angles against the forwarding Indian and he controlled their bout today. Singh attacked strongly in the third round but he stepped into Murodov’s best range therefore Tajikistan’s pride advanced to the semi-finals.

Kazakhstan’s Yerassyl Yermek turned back the bout of the day

Kazakhstan’s Yerassyl Yermek won the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships at the age of 15 and he competes in his first major youth competition in Dubai. He met with Uzbekistan’s one-year-older Aydos Tagaybayev in a key quarter-final contest which delivered an equal first round between them. The Uzbek landed more shots in the first and he started the second with some nice hooks but Yermek was able to return with left-handed jabs. Both boxers gave in everything in the third when Yermek tried to use his tricky style to land punches against the Chyrchyk-based hope. The 17-year-old Kazakh talent has done a fantastic finish in their world class battle and turned back their quarter-final which was the bout of the day.

Abdurakhim Yokubov eliminated a tough Indian on Day4

As Kazakhstan’s Yerassyl Yermek, Tajikistan’s Abdurakhim Yokubov won the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships as a 15-year-old talent. The Tajik boxer joined to the youth age group this January and improved his technical skills and strength in the recent months. Yokubov amazed in the first round against India’s experienced Rabichandra Singh and he was quicker in the exchanges. The 17-year-old Tajik launched several effective counter-attacks in the first and second rounds using his impressive footwork. Yokubov had the better technical skills and his counter-shots decided their remarkable quarter-final.

Iran’s Abolfazl Faridi used his distance to take a medal

Syria’s Haidara Alasaly won his preliminary bout in the first stage of the championship and after that success, he had to meet with Iran’s Abolfazl Faridi in the quarter-finals of the new light welterweight (63.5kg). The Iranian competed international events in the past and he had more experiences from this level of boxing. Faridi used his longer hands well and worked from his safest distance in their quarter-final which was the difference between them today. Following Parsi’s success, Faridi also secured his place in the last four from Team Iran and he is now a guaranteed medallist. Faridi will now meet in the semi-finals with India’s Vanshaj who had a tough battle against Tajikistan’s Dovud Makhkamov.

Kazakhstan’s No.1. Yelnur Suyunbay used his virtuoso style of boxing

Kazakhstan’s Yelnur Suyunbay claimed silver medal at the Kielce 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and the 17-year-old talent moved up to the light welterweight (63.5kg) since the Polish event. Suyunbay is still taller than many of his opponents in his new weight category and he used his amazing tricky style of boxing against Palestine’s Montenegro Youth Cup winner Abdel Rahman Hamza Yaseen in the first round. Suyunbay landed quick jabs to the head and he combined those punches with body shots to stop the Palestinian attacks. Suyunbay amazed with his outstanding technical skills and his virtuoso style of boxing delivered for him a clear success in this quarter-final.

Solijonov won his tough welterweight quarter-final

Iran’s new face in the youth national team, Armun Rostami Sarmaji surprised his Uzbek opponent, Samandar Solijonov in the first round and he had some advantage in the scorecards. The Uzbek welterweight (67kg) boxer changed his tempo in the beginning of the second round and regained the control of the bout. Rostami had a lot of clinching therefore he received a warning from the referee while Solijonov’s increased tempo was too strong for the Iranian today. The Uzbek talent will be meeting for the final with India’s Daksh Singh who bowed out Kyrgyzstan’s 17-year-old Eldar Turdubayev. Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Abzal Serik and Tajikistan’s Sirodjiddin Khojiboboyev also advanced to the semi-finals of this weight class.

Arman Armanuly knocked out his rival and meets with Alokhon Abdullaev

Mongolia’s Tuguldur Usukhbayar was nearly 15cm taller than Uzbekistan’s Alokhon Abdullaev who claimed bronze medal at the Kielce 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships. The 18-year-old Uzbek moved up to the light middleweight (71kg) but he had the strength to catch then tall Mongolian especially in the third round therefore Abdullaev advanced to the last four. Abdullaev will be meeting in the semi-finals with Kazakhstan’s Arman Armanuly who knocked out his Iranian rival, Nasab Seyed Ali Hashemi in the second round of their contest.
