Sabyrkhan, Anarbayev triumph in Kazakhstan Youth National Championships

ASBC stars Torekhan Sabyrkhan and Bakhtiyar Anarbayev reigned supreme in their respective divisions in the Kazakhstan Youth Men National Championships 2022 recently held in Aktobe.

Two-time Asian junior champion Sabyrkhan moved up to the light welterweight (63.5kg) class where he edged out Arkhat Turgynbek via split decision for his first youth national title.

Anarbayev, who is also an Asian junior titlist, pulled off a 4-1 victory against fellow IBA Youth World Championships 2022 campaigner Ilya Kalinin in the lightweight (60kg) division.

Meanwhile, ASBC youth silver finisher Islam Sovetov and Youth World Championships bet Nurzhan Duman beat their foes through split decision to top the light middleweight (71kg) and heavyweight (92kg), respectively.

Shymkent’s Meirambek Alpysbay won the first title of the national event following his success over Turkestan region’s Bekzhigit Rysbek at the pinweight (46kg). Dzhambul region’s Beksultan Boranbek was the main favourite for the title at the minimumweight (48kg) and he accomplished his goal against Nurgisa Turabekov.

Damir Baipakov earned medals in the recent ASBC events and he was the top favourite for the gold medal at the flyweight (51kg) but Sultan Moldash eliminated him already in the quarter-finals. The title of this category was captured by Pavlodar region’s international boxer, Islam Mashkentayev who eliminated Uslam Seksenbayev and Sultan Moldash as well.

ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist Aidar Kadyrkhan was named as the gold medal contender of the bantamweight (54kg) but he suffered an unexpected loss to Zhanserik Konerbayev who bagged the titles as well.
