Russia’s Aleksandr Lebziak is the new head coach in Turkmenistan

Former Russian head coach Mr. Aleksandr Lebziak joined to the Turkmenistan national elite boxing team and support the work in the developing Central Asian country. He is honoured coach of Russia and one of the highest rated expert in the world which means Turkmenistan will have the potential to join to the best Asian nations in the upcoming years.
Mr. Aleksandr Lebziak was an excellent boxer who joined to the national team of the Soviet Union in 1987 when he achieved a title in the AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships in Havana. As an elite boxer he claimed silver medal in the Sydney 1991 AIBA World Boxing Championships and won the title in the Budapest 1997 AIBA World Boxing Championships as member of the Russian team.
Mr. Lebziak won the title in the 1998 European Boxing Championships in Minsk and defended his throne in 2000 in Tampere. His career highlight as a boxer was the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games where he defeated all of his five rivals at the light heavyweight (81kg) and won the gold medal 17 years ago.
As head coach of the Russian boxing team his boxers claimed titles in the AIBA World Boxing Championships, in the EUBC European Confederation Boxing Championships and also in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Mr. Lebziak, who was born in a Ukrainian city in Donetsk, was successful as a coach with the Russian team and he is ready to lead Turkmenistan into a golden age.
Turkmenistan has got potential in boxing, their hopes claimed two bronze medals in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent and three of their athletes advanced to the semi-finals in the Islamic Solidarity Games. The Turkmenistan National Boxing Championships will be held in June which will be a great selection for their athletes to the future goals.
